Chapter 57 - Strange Man

Because Kaizoku and Sylphy couldn't stop running and their vision was blinded by the green light, they crashed into the cardboard wall.

Bursting through the cardboard-covered wall, Kaizoku and Sylphy fell on top of each other.

"Oww... You're so heavy..." groaned Kaizoku, pinned under Sylphy's body.

"And your feet stink!" Sylphy retorted, with Kaizoku's left foot near her neck.

They eventually managed to stand up and survey their surroundings.

"Huh... What is this place?"

Kaizoku wondered, looking around then found a bed at the side of the room.

"Seems like someone's bedroom... But whose? And why would they cover up the secret passage to that cave? It's really strange, isn't it?"

Sylphy examined the cardboard wall that had concealed the secret path.

"Fine by me. I can finally rest after that horrifying cave experience."

Kaizoku jumped onto the bed.

"Hmm, pretty soft."

Since Sylphy also needed rest and Kaizoku had claimed the bed, she chose to lie down on the long sofa.

Their peace was short-lived as they heard loud cheering, as if there was an excited audience watching some spectacular event.

"Ugh... Just when I found some peace and quiet!" Kaizoku complained, covering his ears with a pillow.

"That's odd. Why would there be a bedroom next to all this noise? Kai, want to investigate?" Sylphy asked with curious eyes.

"Me? Heh, I just got comfortable... You go ahead," Kaizoku replied lazily.

Sylphy sighed and walked to the door. When she tried to open it, she found it locked. She pressed her ear against it to listen.

She heard enthusiastic cheering and slight tremors, as if something massive was moving around.

As she was about to stop eavesdropping, she heard footsteps approaching the room.

Quickly, Sylphy ran and pulled Kaizoku into a narrow locker to hide together.

"Shhh..."

A startled Kaizoku could only stay quiet and follow Sylphy's lead.

Sylphy's instincts proved correct as a man entered the bedroom. He was incredibly muscular and tall, clearly mature with long wave dark orange hair.

Kaizoku and Sylphy were shocked to see that he was human and not a skeleton, proving they weren't the only humans around.

Sylphy noticed a key hanging from the man's pants.

She signaled to Kaizoku with her eyes to grab the key.

Kaizoku spotted it fast and understood, nodding in acknowledgment.

As the man was about to leave, Sylphy burst from the locker and leaped at him, pinning his arms behind his back.

Kaizoku quickly ran forward and kicked the man's legs out from under him.

Sylphy covered his mouth to muffle any screams.

She grabbed the key and ran out, with Kaizoku following close behind.

Once both outside, Sylphy immediately locked the door.

The man, still in pain from the attack, crawled toward the secret cave passage.

"Heh... Big mistake..." he muttered as he dragged himself into the hidden wall passage.

He enter the secret way goes inside the cave, crawling with some head, thinking he can escape from this worse hell world and live freely.
