~CAMILLE~
"I-I didn't mean to come in," I say quickly, the words tumbling out. "The door was open just a little and I got curious and—"
Niklaus doesn't respond immediately. He walks into the room slowly, and I can feel my entire body tighten with guilt. His expression is unreadable, but there's a heavy furrow between his brows.
"I'm sorry," I whisper. "I shouldn't have. I overstepped. I just— I saw the light and the colors and— I won't do it again. Please don't be mad."
I start to move past him, but he grabs my hand, stopping me in place. His fingers are warm and firm around mine, but his eyes search me like he's seeing something unfamiliar. Maybe he is.
"You always do this," he murmurs. "You're too curious. You keep pushing into things you shouldn't."
I flinch.
I bite my lip, blinking hard to keep the tears in. "I said I'm sorry," I whisper again, voice tight. "I didn't mean to ruin anything. I just thought… they were beautiful."
