Helping Lilah.

Kaito wakes up the next day feeling even better. After finishing his work around the inn, he spent the rest of his day practicing his brand-new Sacred Arte—Energy Fission.

It helped him so much that he would work out in his room to make sure he wasn't losing any strength as he recovered.

Lilah often came by to give him random tasks she figured out he was good at. She had him climb onto the roof to clean the sign and tidy up after the guests who had left.

Today, he wakes up earlier than usual, but almost immediately, he notices his stomach rumbling again.

He heads downstairs, looking around for ingredients to cook with. He finds the spices but wonders where all the meats are stored. Back home, his Aunt May would use her ice magic daily to keep meat fresh.

Looking around their kitchen, however, he sees nothing of the sort—until he opens up a strange door that releases cold air.

"Woah, this box is where they keep the meats!" Kaito pulls out a lump of meat. "This should be good for sausages!" he says happily.

He grabs bread, eggs, cinnamon, oil, and cheese.

Throwing on Lilah's apron—BOMB MOM written across the front—he gets to work.

As the smell of cooking fills the air, Lilah and Dante eventually make their way downstairs, drawn in by the scent.

"What's this? You're making us breakfast?" Lilah asks, pleasantly surprised. Then, glancing at Dante with a sly smile, she adds,

"Si tan solo hicieras esto." (If only you would do this.)

Dante shakes his head.

Kaito smiles. "Oh, good morning!" he greets them both cheerfully.

"What's the occasion?" Dante asks.

Kaito shakes his head. "No occasion, I just wanted breakfast."

Lilah clicks her tongue. "You know, Kaito, you're under our care—we should be cooking for you," she says.

Kaito nods. "I know, but I'm helping, aren't I?" he replies sarcastically, making Lilah laugh.

"Right, right," she says.

Kaito hands them both plates before sitting down with them.

Lilah and Dante are both pleasantly surprised by the food. Kaito had made a simple breakfast—French toast, eggs, and sausage patties—but the taste was amazing. The eggs were perfectly fluffy, the sausage patties were juicy and tender, and the French toast was light and airy.

As Lilah continues eating, she nudges Dante.

"Tienes que trabajar más duro o te despedirán." (You need to work harder, or you'll get fired.) she teases.

Dante groans. "Mom!" he protests.

Kaito smiles. "What did she say?"

Dante rolls his eyes. "That she enjoys the food," he lies.

Lilah waves her arm happily. "Kaito, you're such a dear! Call me Aunt Lilah from now on, okay?"

Kaito nods happily. "Okay, Auntie Lilah."

They finish their breakfast.

"Kaito, you made extra for the other residents staying here, right?" Lilah asks.

Kaito nods. "Of course."

Lilah fist-pumps, relieved that she won't have to cook today. "Kaito, you're on dinner duty too!" she declares.

Kaito grins. "Okay, Auntie."

Dante and Lilah go about their day while Kaito continues working on his Sacred Arte. His healing has gotten faster, and he barely feels the pain anymore.

After a long day, Kaito makes curry, which the family enjoys.

And later, as everyone sleeps, Kaito continues his training.
