January 3rd,
The melodious chirping of the birds filled the morning air as I stretched my arms and walked to the window. I hummed in sync to the bird's chirping, spreading the curtains further apart to allow the morning breeze to waft in.
Breath in, breathe out.
Breathe in, breathe out.
That was the morning 'exercise' I did anytime I felt too lazy to jog. I stopped breathing( like literally) when I noticed a strange movement.
Did that door just move?
I froze right where I stood, my mind reeling with thoughts I definitely didn't want to entertain.
Isn't that house supposed to be abandoned?
Or did a thief break in?
Just as I was about to turn away, I saw a man peering at me from the window opposite mine. I screamed in fright and fell to the floor, panting heavily as my brother rushed into the room.
"What happened? Why'd you scream like that?" He asked as I pointed to the window. He rushed there, looking outside and hoping to see what made me scream.
"I can't see anything, Sandy." He said, looking a bit disappointed as he helped me up. I sat on my bed, trying to think.
"Are you okay? Do you need some water?" He asked.
"N-no I'm fine, thanks. I'll see you at breakfast." I said, forcing a smile to make him think I was okay. He looked at me, hesitantly for some seconds before walking out of my room.
Lord, what was that? Was I hallucinating?
I thought as I knelt beside my bed to pray.
