Douglas’ POV
I watched as Sharon walked up the steps to her dormitory, her posture stiff, shoulders squared with that unmistakable resolve. The car idled beneath me, its engine humming softly in the early evening quiet. She didn’t turn back, not once, and a twist of worry tightened in my chest. She had been putting herself in danger, chasing down sponsorship deals like her life depended on it. While it was admirable, it was also reckless.
Before she got out of my car, I had told her to abandon her pursuit and leave it to the professionals. But I knew Sharon wasn't the type of person to take no for an answer. Telling her to back off was like daring her to double down. She would only push herself harder and take bigger risks to prove she could do it. It was something I was starting to admire about her—her relentless drive—but it also terrified me.
