Chapter 28:

The mercenary continued to taunt the demon hunter. He still tried shooting her, but she was able to stay hidden well enough so that it was impossible for him to really do anything against her. Yet eventually she did let out one final laugh at the demonian before she decided to bid him farewell, leaving him with one final jab. "Oh, and one more thing: It was you who wanted them to ask Gris to go get somebody."

She wasn't wrong which actually caused it to sting even more as he began to feel dazed. Only now after having lost a lot of blood from the many cuts and wounds on his body did he finally begin to falter. His vision fading as he looked up to see Willow stand out of the shadows one moment, and the next she was gone. He tried to stay standing, he tried to stay awake. Alas, it did not last for too long.

The last thing he found himself doing before he fell unconscious was walk forward. Just so he wouldn't suffer the same fate as Cassian. Even after some time, the trio were still trying to get into the building, but the rubble still blocked them. They couldn't understand why it was so difficult for them to do so, they would've thought that they could've gotten through by now. But they still weren't. That didn't stop them, however. For they still pressed onward to get through to what was happening in there.

That was till they heard the sound of someone else approaching. They all turned their heads to face the newcomer, only to see a rocket be sent through towards them, which they could all only narrowly dodge. The rocket blew up the rubble that they had finally almost gotten through, and it was followed by a laugh from Gris. "Well, dang! What are you comrades still doing out and about out here?"

Alex and Pat rush in while Mike explains what was happening to Gris, who let out a laugh. "I already told you! Those two are always bickering whenever they're in the same vicinity! Let's just see what kind of trouble they got themselves into this time around! Hopefully they won't prove to be ignoramuses! Because believe me, Sebastian would've called him a fool and vice versa!" The attitude of Gris was something that Mike thought would end this time around when they too reached Sebastian, whose body was still lying there.

Alex was the first to alert the Union about their fallen comrade while they all stayed there. All the while, Gris leaned over to look at him before skipping over to look into the sinkhole where she believed Cassian had gone before turning back to them, with a smile still on her face, somehow. The trio called her out for it, wondering if she even had any type of morals because these were two people she actually knew, two people she seemed to care about, but she still shrugged it off.

"Hey! What's the matter? It's all in good fun! It's all fair in show business, and that includes the mishaps! It's just like someone I know told me: The show might not be the greatest one around, but it's all still a show in the end! And you just gotta stick around till the next one! Can't have the audience leaving during the middle of it, now can you? And the show is never complete without an audience! Now combine that with my own saying, then you never need to worry! After all, this tragedy's a comedy! So go on and turn your frowns around!"

Even after all this time, they still didn't understand this woman, and it was likely that they never were going to understand her. Whatever. They couldn't understand her, but they were still wanting to understand what went down here. But that didn't have to last too long because Gris admits to them what she knew, and she told them that she had Willow come by to help them resolve their issues.

But Gris gave a shrug about it as well, not seeming to expect Willow to outright kill Cassian, let alone do this. Yet Gris also mentions that she can't ever expect anything from Willow, "that dang mercenary" as she described her. According to her, sometimes Willow can show some semblance of having mercy, but also being cruel as heck. It made it all the more fun for Gris to watch when Willow did something, ending off what she was talking about with how Willow has said that Gris can do too much at times, but the latter just calls it her own quirks.

Okay, "quirks", that's how Gris saw her likely unstable mind, but whatever the case was. It was honestly horrid how she could act like this, but there was only so much they could do about her personality or how she acted, and even when she went back over to check back over to where Cassian was standing. How she knew this? It was simple, really. She just found the blood spatter down where it was before it went down into the pit.

The triad wasn't paying attention to her anymore while they were trying to help the other Union members figure out where they were, and they were able to do so after some confusion between the two parties with how things were being described. But when their attention returned to their gray haired advisory, they saw that her hands were covered in blood. Turns out Gris was making small faces on the ground that looked like they were smiling, and she let out another laugh due to their... shocked? Disgusted? Horrid. Horrid expressions as they looked at her.

But as the other Union members were arriving, she took that as her time for resignation. With a clap of her hands alongside another reminder to them that it was all in good fun, she took a teleporter in hand before she threw it up and behind her, leaving it to fall down into the pit that Cassian had fallen into. Then she took the plunge herself, cackling all the while until they could not hear her anymore. When Mike peered over the hole that had taken that space, he returned to look back at his friends before reluctantly telling them one thing: "She survived."
