When Mom's Spidey-Senses Kick In

Isabella felt a knot of worry tighten in her stomach as she woke up, only to find out she was the only one in the bed, Alex was nowhere to be seen.

The cool morning air brushing against her skin. She quickly put on her night robe, the fabric soft against her fingers as she hurried through the expansive mansion.

The silence was almost deafening, amplifying her concern as she called out for Alex, but only her voice echoed back.

Her first stop was the parlour, a room usually filled with laughter and warmth, but it was empty.

The sunlight streamed through the large windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air, yet there was no sign of him.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart, and decided to check the balcony next. Maybe he was out there, lost in thought as he often was, gazing at the horizon.

As she stepped outside, the fresh breeze tousled her hair, but the balcony was just as empty as the parlour.

The view was breathtaking, but her heart sank a little more with each passing second. Where could he be? She turned back inside, her mind racing with all the possibilities.

Maybe he had gone for a walk, or perhaps he was caught up in some project he hadn't mentioned.

Just then, a delightful aroma wafted through the air, pulling her attention towards the kitchen.

The sweet, savory scent was irresistible, and her stomach growled in response. Curiosity piqued, she followed the delicious smell, her worry beginning to fade as anticipation took its place.

As she entered the kitchen, her eyes widened in surprise. There stood Alex, completely absorbed in his cooking, a whirlwind of activity around him.

Pots were bubbling, and the sizzle of something delicious filled the air. He looked up, a bright smile breaking across his face as he caught sight of her.

"Good morning, sleepyhead!" he called out, his voice warm and inviting. "I thought I'd surprise you with breakfast. What do you think?" Isabella couldn't help but smile, her worries melting away at the sight of him.

"I was worried, wondering where you had gone," Issa replied, wrapping her arms around him from behind.

The warmth of her body against his sent a thrill through Alex, and he felt her presence envelop him like a comforting blanket.

But as she hugged him tighter, he couldn't help but notice the way her light robe clung to her, stirring something playful within him.

Clearing his throat, Alex decided to tease her a little. "Ehmm, I think the hug would be better if you hugged me from the front.

I can turn off the gas; the food can wait if you don't mind." His voice was laced with mischief, and he could feel her warmth radiating through his back.

He loved how easily they could slip into playful banter, each moment charged with a mix of affection and flirtation.

Issa's eyes widened as she realized what he meant, and a flush crept up her cheeks.

Without a second thought, she took off like a shot, her laughter ringing through the kitchen as she sprinted out.

"You're impossible!" she called over her shoulder, the sound of her footsteps echoing against the tiled floor. Alex couldn't help but burst into laughter.

As Isabella made her way back to the room, she headed to the bathroom. As she finished her bath, the steam lingered in the air, and she felt refreshed and invigorated.

Stepping out of the bathroom, she was greeted by the sight of Alex sitting at the small dining table in their spacious room, a warm smile lighting up his face.

He beckoned her over, and the radiance in his eyes made her heart flutter.

Eager to join him, she hurriedly dried off and slipped into one of Alex's oversized T-shirts, feeling a sense of comfort envelop her.

Once she settled down at the table, Alex scooped a spoonful of food and playfully placed it in front of her, his smile infectious.

The simple act of sharing breakfast together felt intimate, and as they began to eat, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of warmth and connection.

They exchanged playful glances, enjoying the delicious food and each other's company, the world outside fading away.

Just as they were savoring the moment, Issa's phone rang, breaking the peaceful ambiance.

She glanced at the screen and saw it was her mom calling. Sitting down quietly, she shot Alex a quick "don't talk" sign, her expression a mix of amusement and urgency.

With a teasing smile, he nodded, respecting her wish to take the call,

"Good morning, Mom," Issa greeted her mom, trying to keep her voice steady despite the sudden turn in the conversation.

"Issa, aren't you coming home today? Or have you gone to work? It's 10 o'clock! I thought you were going to come back early and prepare for work. I've even prepared breakfast for you," her mom said, concern lacing her voice from the other end of the phone.

"I'm sorry, Mom, but…" Issa trailed off, desperately searching for an excuse.

Just then, Alex, oblivious to the tension, coughed lightly, his casual demeanor contrasting sharply with Issa's rising anxiety.

"Who's that? Issa, are you in a man's house? Is he the mysterious Alex you were thinking about the other day?" her mother pressed, her tone shifting to a mix of curiosity and suspicion.

Caught off guard, Issa shot a glance at Alex, who was now playfully pretending to inspect the ceiling as if it held the answers to all her dilemmas.

"Mom, I will explain better when I come home," Issa replied, her heart racing. She could feel the heat rising to her cheeks, wondering how much her mother truly knew about her and Alex's budding relationship.

"I'm going to my office now, let's talk later in the night," her mom said, her voice softening slightly but still tinged with concern.

Issa felt a wave of relief wash over her, grateful that the conversation was finally shifting away from the awkward questions. "Alright, Mom, have a great day," Issa replied, her voice more confident now as she ended the call.

As she hung up, Issa let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. Turning to Alex, who was now looking at her with a teasing grin, she couldn't help but laugh.

"You just had to cough at the wrong moment, didn't you?" she said, shaking her head.

Alex shrugged with a playful smirk, and in that moment, the tension melted away, leaving only the warmth of their shared breakfast and the excitement of what lay ahead.
