LIN XUAN'S POV
######################
"Lin Xuan," a female inner disciple repeated my name as if she wanted to have it embedded in her mind. "Lin Xuan." She smiled. "I like it. It suits you well."
What was her name again? I had forgotten even though she had been coming to the library for six days without failure and borrowed over ten books in such a short while without returning even a single one.
Even though I was still learning the rules of this place, I still couldn't understand why inner and true disciples had such special privileges while the outer disciples and handymen had to struggle so hard just to get by.
Maybe it was to encourage them to break their limits and price their worth. Or it was just to let them know that they were at the bottom of the power chain.
I looked into her eyes flatly while picking up the brush. I dipped the tip in the midnight black ink and then brought it to the register. "Your name?"
Her brown eyes suddenly widened. "You, you don't reme-" Before she could finish her words, a familiar scent or aura, filled the atmosphere between us.
The female immediately bowed with a fist-palm salute in place. "Elder Yao."
My eyes became shaky, and my soul grew frightened, yet all I could feel in my face was the heat rising under my cheeks.
I had learned that the demon was an elder in this sect nobody seemed to know what he really was except...me.
This was why he wanted to kill me when he realized that I was joining his sect, fearing I could spill his secret.
In this world, demons were the most hated and feared beings. Why? Because their cultivation methods were wicked. Just like how Yuan Yao was feeding on human blood to survive and cultivate his demonic path.
But at least his victims had to willingly give him blood or... I have no idea what would happen to him if he drank without their consent but I imagined it would be bad for him.
Following the rules Old Wei had thrown at my face on the first day of work, I rose and lifted my palm, which was drilled into my fist, and bowed at the demon who wore white robes today as every other time I had seen him.
"Elder Yao." I bowed, hiding my flustered face as memories of the other night came back.
He knew.
Now how was I to hide from him? What was I to do?
Nothing.
I could only hope that he was here to see Old Wei and not to bother me.
Only two nights had passed since he fed. So this sudden visit was surely not for me.
"Follow me," Yuan Yao said, continuing to walk towards the stairs that led to the second floor.
"M-me?" I stuttered looking at his back.
"Yes. Librarian Xuan. You."
The female who stood in front of my desk said nothing even though one could see her curiosity flickering in her eyes.
"Don't keep me waiting!"
"Ye-yes!" I squeaked dashing from behind the desk, almost tripping on the hem of my robes.
As I went through the barrier placed at the entrance to the second floor, a hand grabbed my wrist and yanked me inside before I was swirled around, and my back pushed against something hard.
"How dare you hesitate?" Yuan Yao breathed on my face furiously, his hand on my throat as his other held my waist.
Oh no!
Why was he this close?
Now, he could see my reddened cheeks and even feel my drumming heartbeats if he listened hard.
"Why a-are you h-h-here?" I asked, hoping my fear and embarrassment weren't leaking.
Yuan Yao smiled moving his face down to stare directly into my eyes. But before he could charm me like last time, I shut them. "There are people here. Can we not talk this like grown-ups?"
He snorted removing his hand from my neck.
"I guess you have a point. It will be hard to make you cüm when it's noisy here."
Hearing the word cüm had my eyes pop wide open.
Was he...?
But before I could protest, Yuan Yao snapped his fingers and in a single blink, we were standing in front of my little bed.
"Much better."
"No! It's not a week yet!" I cried jumping away from him. "You cannot feed on me."
He just grinned wickedly before shrugging his shoulders. "I had a little accident and it drained most of my human qi. If I don't come to you, where wake will I go? Besides, did I not give you the blood pill? Why are you whining like a baby?"
I glared at Yuan Yao while my brain searched around the room for something I could use to defend myself.
I suddenly remembered the iron candle holder standing on the little table by my bed. If only I could also manipulate qi, I could have drawn the candleholder to me without having to touch it with my hands.
'Jump around and grab it!' I yelled at myself and was about to follow the instructions but Yuan Yao's hands shoved me, making my body fall back on the bed.
"Ack! You're a bul-" The curse had only left my mouth halfway when a larger body than mine came on top with his hands quickly parting my neck. "No wait!"
Yuan Yao ignored my cry and diced for the bite.
The tear-jerking sting that came with his fangs piercing my flesh stabbed my chest mercilessly.
I thrashed under him but his weight made certain that I do not interrupt his feeding. "Yuan... Yao," I moaned with tears in my eyes.
But after only a minute, the pain was instantly replaced by this warm sensation that originated from my neck down to my groin. Second after second as my blood left my body, I began hardening against Yuan Yao.
This warmth was overwhelming. It felt so good that I couldn't help myself.
