Chapter 19: Phone Call

As they walked out of the bustling canteen, the group strolled together, chatting and laughing. The warm sunlight cast a cozy glow over their lively gathering.

Liam, Aria, Kai, Anya, Ethan, Maya, and Julian headed towards their classrooms, enjoying the brief respite between lessons.

Kai asked, "Liam, have you finished your math assignment? It's due soon, right?"

Liam grinned confidently. "I'll get it done...

Julian smiled warmly. "You'll catch on quickly, just like the past. You have a knack for math and I'm here for you"

Kai chuckled mischievously. "Yah, that's how your bonding started, and so your love story—"

Anya softly interrupted, placing a gentle hand on Kai's arm. "Kai, shut up."

Kai realized Aria was also present and his words could have hurt her. He cleared his throat, his face flushing slightly.

"Sorry," Kai muttered.

Liam didn't notice the tension. "Julian's here for me...my assignment will be done ."

Aria's jealousy simmered beneath the surface, her eyes narrowing slightly.

"I'm sure Julian's thrilled to be tutoring you," Aria said, her voice laced with sarcasm.

Julian's expression remained neutral. "I'm happy to assist him whenever he needs it."

The group continued walking, their footsteps echoing through the corridors.

As they approached their classrooms, they parted ways.

"See you guys later," Anya said, waving.

"Later," Ethan replied, grinning.

Maya waved. "Bye."

Julian smiled. "Adieu."

Aria's gaze lingered on Liam and Julian, her thoughts swirling with unease.

Later that afternoon, Aria ignored Liam.

Liam approached, concern etched on his face. "Aria, what's wrong?"

Aria's voice dripped with sarcasm. "Oh, nothing. Just enjoying the view."

Liam's eyebrows furrowed. "Aria, what's going on? You've been distant all day."

Aria's eyes flashed. "The hug wasn't necessary, Liam."

Liam took a deep breath. "Aria, I can explain—"

Just then, Aria's phone rang.

She hesitated, then answered.

"Aria, this is Dr. Lee from St. Michael's Hospital," the voice on the other end said.

Aria's expression turned pale.

"What happened?" Aria asked, her voice trembling.

The line went dead.

Aria's face drained of color.

"St. Michael Hospital," Aria whispered, rushing away.

Ethan and the group approached Liam.

Ethan said "Hey, man, what's going on?"

Kai teased, "Liam's love life is a rollercoaster."

Liam's expression turned serious. "Aria got a call from the hospital. She said 'St. Michael Hospital' and rushed off."

Ethan's eyes widened. "Is everything okay?"

Liam shook his head. "I don't know."

Maya's eyes sparkled with concern. "We have to go."

Anya nodded. "Now."

Julian's face fell.

"Let's go," Ethan said.

The group rushed towards St. Michael Hospital.
