Naturally, Tony was talking about the 'angel' of Greece. The extremely strange event, that almost looked like CGI, had shaken people all over the world. Since then, this supposed angel had disappeared, leaving no traces behind, making it seem like a divine being that came down to save them from the natural disaster.
Tony didn't believe in angels or God. As for the supposed angel? He naturally knew who it was. He had seen Liam's armor up close before. Although its color had changed and it now had wings, he could still recognize it.
Despite knowing who it was, two questions never disappeared from the back of his mind. He couldn't understand how the natural disaster happened, nor could he understand how Liam summoned such detailed walls from the ground.
He had flown over there to check the situation out, and both scenarios didn't make sense. He hadn't found any sign of the walls underground, and as for the natural disaster itself—while he had figured out that the lava caverns deep in the earth had broken and caused a massive disturbance—he couldn't determine how it had happened.
Despite his doubts, Tony couldn't deny that his impression of Liam had improved after watching him protect thousands of lives. What Liam had done in Greece told him that he wasn't a reckless murderer but someone who protected others.
"See, everyone can say that it wasn't correct to kill a defenseless criminal," Liam said, responding to Tony's earlier statement. "But I would rather deal with those consequences than have the lives of hundreds of actually innocent people on my hands."
Tony stared at Liam, letting his words sink in. Swirling the wine in his glass, he looked at the ceiling.
"Yeah, well... That usually gets you labeled as a murderer," Tony answered, still in thought. "Or a hero. Guess it depends on who's telling the story."
He wasn't agreeing. Not exactly. But he wasn't arguing anymore either.
Tony leaned back, glancing at Liam. "You know, you could've just told me all this back then. Would've made everything a lot easier."
Liam and Tony spoke a little more, drinking away the entire bottle of wine. After Tony explained to him how he would receive the money, Liam gave the remaining four vibranium cubes to him and said his goodbyes.
Walking out the doors of the Stark Industries building, Liam couldn't help but think that it had gone a lot better than he could've ever wished for.
While he wasn't exactly friends with Tony, at least they were no longer on bad terms.
'This opens up a lot of options for the future,' Liam thought, satisfied.
Liam still had one dilemma. While he planned to invite geniuses like Shuri in the future, he wasn't sure what he should do with the original Avengers.
'Would it be better to leave them alone and let them join SHIELD?' Liam contemplated, walking into an alleyway. 'Or is it better to invite them to my organization and make them aware of the situation?'
This one dilemma opened up a whole can of worms for Liam. There were a lot more questions regarding the original characters where he wasn't sure what to do.
'Whatever, I'll look at it in the future,' Liam thought, opening a portal to his room.
'Speaking of the Avengers, it's almost 2011. Wasn't the Hulk supposed to cause mayhem in Harlem a few months ago?' he remembered.
Taking out his laptop, Liam searched online for any news articles about the Hulk but couldn't find any.
'Did I just get the dates wrong, or did something change?' Liam wondered. 'No, I'm sure my memory is right. It was supposed to have happened already.'
Liam wasn't so sure anymore about what happened to the Hulk, but one thing he doubted he could have any influence on was Thor's arrival.
'If Hulk doesn't show up before Thor, I have to speak with SHIELD or Wakanda,' Liam thought, still searching on his laptop, only this time for architects.
'Thor arrives in around three months. That's nowhere near enough time for me to get the equipment needed to search the entire planet for one person.'
Liam browsed the web while writing down his next plans. Hearing a notification, Liam found 680 million dollars wired to his account with an added message.
'Don't spend it all in one place. Actually, do. It's more fun that way,' Liam read, making him smile a little.
But that smile didn't last long. As he was about to start looking for ways to contact large building companies and architects, a few knocks sounded at his door.
Opening his door, Liam found a sorcerer he didn't know standing in front of it.
"Master Hawthorne, The Ancient One has summoned you," the sorcerer said, bowing slightly.
Frowning, Liam looked at the sorcerer. "Alright, I'll be there soon. Thank you."
Bowing a little deeper, the sorcerer straightened his back again and walked away.
"What does she need from me now?" Liam muttered, turning back into his room. "Really can't get one moment of peace to set up an organization, huh."
Five minutes later, Liam walked out of his room wearing the robe given to him upon becoming a master-level mage.
Standing in front of the Ancient One's room, Liam knocked and was let in. Inside, he saw two very familiar people sitting in front of the Ancient One. The two females sitting in front of the Ancient One were the people he had brought here personally—Illyana and Ava Starr (Ghost).
"Good afternoon, young Liam," The Ancient One said, smiling softly.
"Good afternoon to you too," Liam said, walking toward the table. "What do you need me to do?"
"Sit down," The Ancient One said calmly, pouring a cup of tea for Liam.
"Hey, Illy. It's been a long time, Ava," Liam greeted both of them.
"Hi, Liam," Illyana said, smiling brightly, whereas Ava gave him a polite nod, seemingly lost in thought with a serious expression on her face.
"What's the matter?" Liam asked her, sitting down beside Illyana.
"It's about our mission," Illyana answered him.
"Our mission?" Liam repeated, now seriously wondering what was going on.
"Yes, young Liam," The Ancient One said, now also showing a serious expression. "There's been an unexpected situation."
"It seems Nightmare from the Dream Dimension has managed to manifest some of its power over a city due to a cult's summoning."
After the Ancient One stopped speaking, the room went silent with all eyes focused on Liam.
Liam exhaled slowly. "That... is a problem."
