The next morning Kaitlin was having breakfast in the garden since it was one of the rare warm days that the city had during the winter time. It had been hard for Kaitlin to get much sleep the night before since her mind would not stop replaying the conversation that she had with Samual before he left.
"What are you doing out here so early in the morning?" Laura said as she came out of the house, "Shouldn't you be cleaning the house by now, after all, you have to earn your keep somehow."
Kaitlin who had been lost in her thoughts turned to look at Laura as she stopped a couple of steps away from the table. "Not today Laura, I don't have the patience or the strength to deal with you today," Kaitlin said as she cleaned off her hands on the napkin before placing it on the plate and getting up.
Kaitlin tried to make her way inside the house since she needed to start making plans and finalizing her moves if she wanted to get out before Samuel got back from his trip. Laura extended her hand blocking Kaitlin from moving forward toward the house. "I am not done talking to you," Laura said as she positioned herself once maneuvering Kaitlin to end up with her back toward the pool.
"What do you want Laura? I don't have time to be talking to you today," Kaitlin said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"You should have known better than to marry my brother four years ago. You came into his life and destroyed it," Laura said as she got closer to Kaitlin. "You need to leave the family and never come back, you are a waste of space that nobody wants."
"Okay, I will leave, I just have to go inside and get my things and I will be out of your hair," Kaitlin said looking Laura in the eyes.
Laura stands relaxed for a minute before looking over Kaitlin again, "Are you telling the truth?" Laura questioned.
"Yes, I will just go inside and get my things," Kaitlin confirmed. She took a step around Laura and went inside the house. Kaitlin didn't have any time to waisted she only had a limited time before Samuel returned from his trip and she needed to be out of the house before he came back.
Laura looked on as Kaitlin made her way inside the house, could she trust what she was saying? When Laura first met Kaitlin, Laura didn't get the impression that Kaitlin was a bad person. Laura didn't like the fact that Samuel was marrying her because it was more of a political marriage but she hoped that her brother could find a partner in Kaitlin. Or at least that was what she hoped until she started hearing things about Kaitlin.
Some rumors and stories came to light after Samuel's and Kaitlin's wedding. The more of the story Laura heard, the more she wanted her brother to divorce Kaitlin. Celia had been a better fit for her brother it was a shame that because of Kaitlin's obsession with Samuel, she was driven out of the country by the family to make way for Kaitlin.
Laura hoped that with Kaitlin gone her brother could find his happiness, especially since the company was not under his hands and the board members did not oppose him anymore.
Kaitlin worked fast she packed her clothes and the jewelry her mother and father had given her on her wedding day. In the four years that they had been married, Samuel had never bothered to make sure that she got any new clothes or any other item. As she zipped up her bag her phone went off.
Kaitlin reached for her phone and looked at the message she had just received it was from Celia. "So, you did go to her," Kaitlin turned her phone off and put her phone in her pocket. "Don't worry baby, you and me do not need him. She can have him."
Kaitlin had found out that the night she had spent with Samuel two months ago was because Celia had gotten engaged to a man she had met overseas. Samuel had found out and gotten drunk. That night, Samuel consummated their marriage. He had confused her for Celia and made love to her.
She grabbed her bag and made her way out of her room. She made sure all her important documents were with her before making her way downstairs. As she made her way to the first floor she heard the door to the garden balcony opening and closing. She saw Laura enter the house. "Here are the keys to the house," Kaitlin said placing them on the living room center table. She pulled her bag behind her and made her way to the door.
Laura was just standing by the door looking from the keys to Kaitlin.
"Let your brother know that I will have my lawyer send the divorce papers later," Kaitlin said as she stopped at the main door, "I would say it is a shame that I am leaving your family, but to tell you the truth I think I have pretty tolerable with you."
"Who do you think you are Kaitlin? Just because of who your family is you think you can get away with everything," Laura said getting some of her senses back.
"You have no room to talk Laura, you have abused me in countless ways just because you do not like me for some reason, you have not even given us a chance to grow any kind of relationship," Kaitlin said, "Hope never to see you again, have a nice life."
Kaitlin stepped out of the door leaving a screaming Laura behind, "Okay," she let out a deep breath and headed for her car. She pulled out her phone and dialed a phone number that she had not called in the past four years, she just hoped that the person at the other end would pick up.
The phone rang twice before she heard the voice, a voice she thought she would not hear anytime soon. "Kai, where are you? are you okay?" Alia's sweet voice called out.
Kaitlin couldn't contain her happiness at hearing Alia's voice, a women who had become a sister to her in her first year of high school when she had put herself in front of her when Celia had been bullying her. "Kai answer me," Alia's demanding voice came over the speaker once again.
"I am okay, Ali, or at least I will be once I see you," Kaitlin said wiping her tears off her face and pulling herself back together. "I have made up my mind and I am divorcing Samuel. I am leaving his house now but I need a place to stay at least for one day until I finish planning where I am going to go."
"Go to my house, I will see you there in 20 minutes," Laura said, "drive safe."
"Okay," Kaitlin said as she opened the car door and placed her bag inside. "I will see you in 20 minutes."
