Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Lyra and Orion continued their conversation with Marcus Reed, revealing that they were a Radiant Disciple and a Shimmering Adept, respectively. Marcus's smile turned into a sinister grin as he listened, a hint of malevolence creeping into his expression. Both Lyra and Orion noticed the unsettling smile but managed to mask their disgust, pretending to be oblivious to his true intentions.

As they conversed with members of the caravan, Lyra and Orion gathered crucial information about the kingdom's currency and its name. The kingdom was called Eldoria, and its ruler was King Alden.

Upon entering the town, Marcus's demeanor shifted. He spoke to the guard captain with a concealed malice, suggesting that Lyra and Orion could be useful as slaves in the arena. The captain, intrigued by the newcomers and their apparent naivety, agreed to take them under the guise of providing them with identification and a drink.

Under the pretense of hospitality, the captain offered them a drink laced with a sleeping potion. Believing they were being treated with kindness, Lyra and Orion accepted. As they pretended to sleep, they overheard the captain and Marcus discussing their impending transport to the arena. The conversation revealed Marcus's and the captain's plans to exploit their strength for the arena fights.

Lyra and Orion remained alert despite their feigned slumber, carefully listening to the details of their fate. Soon, they felt themselves being moved and carried away, their initial trust in Marcus and the captain proving to be a grave mistake as they were transported to the arena.

Once the transport began, Lyra muttered with a hint of disdain, "This human kingdom and its people are indeed disgusting compared to our empire."

Orion, ever the pragmatic one, replied calmly, "Let's wait and see. There's no need to panic. Our Level 7 is watching everything from up there. Let's play along for now. At the very least, we'll establish a proper origin in this world."
