Benjamin's parents had tried everything. They begged, they scolded, and even confiscated his devices, but nothing could shake him. His indifference to their advice only deepened the rift between them.
To Benjamin, their words were nothing more than background noise, not worth his attention. As the college entrance exams drew closer, his parents grew more desperate. Yet Benjamin remained calm, even somewhat confident in his ability to "cram at the last minute."
In the weeks that followed, arguments in Benjamin's family became more frequent. Each time his parents saw him buried in his games, they couldn't hold back their anger.
Father: (angrily) "Do you realize you're ruining your future? All you do is sit and play games all day!"
Benjamin: (responding coldly) "Don't overreact, Dad. I'll be fine. There's no need to worry about me."
Mother: (choking back tears) "Do you have any idea how hard I've worked to give you an education? I don't want to see you like this."
Their reproaches gradually became meaningless to Benjamin. He only knew how to avoid them, indifferent to their pain.
Lily couldn't hold it in any longer. She shouted:
Lily: "You're so selfish! All you care about is yourself, without a thought for anyone in this family!"
Lily's words made Benjamin pause, but only for a moment. He quickly returned to his computer screen, ignoring his sister's hurt feelings.
