Chapter 32: Departing Shadows

The first light of dawn crept over the horizon, casting the castle in a soft, ethereal glow. The morning was quiet, but there was a tension in the air that everyone could feel. Aria stood in the courtyard, the cold morning air nipping at her skin as she watched the servants and guards prepare for their departure. Horses were being saddled, provisions packed, and weapons readied for the perilous journey ahead.

Damien was already in his armor, the dark steel glinting in the pale light. He was speaking quietly with Captain Roland, the leader of his personal guard, giving last-minute instructions. Even though this mission was one only they could undertake, the captain insisted on providing them with a small escort—loyal soldiers who would follow them to the ends of the earth, or into the Abyss itself.
