Unfolding

Meanwhile, in California, Blue couldn't shake off the feeling about Jack, she couldn't believe that he has left again without finding out the truth. Another chance missed, "when will I be able to stand up to this" she thought to herself. Little did she know that her world was about to unravel as she received a mysterious package at her doorstep. It was a Manila envelope, unmarked, except for her name.

She opened it and found photos of Jack and Myrtle on their wedding day, at Charity galas, and in business meetings. There was also a typed note attached to it:

"You deserve to know who he really is. Stay away from Jack if you value your life—and Ivy's. I'm sure you value hers most especially"

Blue's hands shook as she read the words. Her mind raced with questions. She looked around to see if she would find any trace of who may have dropped the package but she couldn't find anyone around. Who sent these photos? Is it someone from Jacks family?

Why's Ivy included here?

her phone buzzed, breaking her thoughts, it was Sally.

"Blue, we need to meet. I've found something about Jack's family, it's worse than we even thought."

Blue looked around, staggered and packed up everything. She went into her house, and immediately got into the shower, her heart was pounding fast. She was afraid, feeling as though there were people actually watching her.

She got off the shower, threw a simple dress on, and headed out to a bar downtown to meet with Sally her 'trusted' cousin.

As Blue sighted Sally, her heart pounded even faster. They grabbed a sit at an extreme corner of the bar. Sally slid a folder across.

Blue stared deeply at her, and looked back at the folder. Her mind was running with emotions, she took a deep sigh, opened the folder and glanced through it.

"Jack's family isn't just wealthy, they're dangerous" Sally began. "They've been involved in illegal deals, money laundering, and worse, his marriage to Mrytle wasn't just for business, it was to keep the family's secrets hidden"

Blue flipped through the folder, her stomach churning, financial records, and witness statements painted a grim picture.

She looked back at Sally, how did you get all these? What're you up to? How are you getting involved in this?

"I think we should get more concerned about finding out the truth and not how I came by all these. I'm only helping you here, you know I want the best for you, I can't stand watch this family endanger your life because you claim to "love" their son. I'm even more concerned about Ivy. Sally cleared the air.

"I got a package today" do you know anything about that? I got a package with pictures of Jack and his wife, and a warning note telling me to steer clear from Jack" Blue threw back at Sally.

"You mean? What!? Damn, now you gotta be careful, you don't know what's coming for you" Sally's gasped. "Blue trust me, I wouldn't do anything to harm you. But first you have to promise me that you'll shift your mind away from Jack, that's the first step to avoiding all these threats."

with a teary eye, Blue asked "what more do you know about them?"

"They've hurt people who've crossed them" Sally continued. "For them to have sent a package directly to you, I think they found out about you-and Ivy" she put her head down.

"Blue you need to be careful"

Blue's mind reeled. Could Jack have known all these? Could he have been lying all along? " Sally, What if he's been protecting me from the dangers of his family?"

"If he really was protecting you, how come they found out about you? And Ivy even before him?" Sally threw back. "You can't comprehend the depth they're willing to go. Take my words, be careful."
