In the busy city life, I, an extremely ordinary middle-aged man, occasionally fantasize in my mind about becoming some superhero or rich man to escape the ordinary life. Every night my dreams take me to a different universe, and every time I wake up it feels like an adventure. However, the day life is still dull, only boring work and lonely themselves. In the alternation of dreams and reality, I began to think that if I changed my life, would it be more wonderful?
The morning sun filtered through the curtains like a well-meaning but long-winded neighbor who had to laugh at me. I yawn, look at the clock and think: It's so wonderful to have another boring working day, it's like eating a piece of stale cake.
"Lao Wang, will you work overtime today?" I sent a message to my colleague. That guy responds faster than the speed of light, and he's gonna have to work on his riddles before he gets my message.
"Who knows, maybe my dream superpower hasn't woken up yet." I said to myself, Oh, my superpower is not a flying away, but a boring persistence. Doesn't anyone feel that seeing the same people and doing the same things every day is like stepping into some weird alternate dimension?
With a sigh, I licked my dry lips and headed to the kitchen, grabbing the piece of bread I'd almost forgotten about. "You will not speak, but will silently watch me continue to fall." I said to the bread, and took a bite of it. It tasted like my life. It was dead boring.
As I ate the bread, a bizarre image began to emerge in my mind: I was a superhero saving humanity trapped by boredom. Flying through the city during the day, with a group of stupid and lovely companions, just like in the movie, beautiful and full of humor.
"Hey, Lao Wang, are you in a daze again?" My colleague Xiao Zhang came into the kitchen and couldn't help laughing when he saw me in a daze, but could he tell me what was wrong with this state of being? Perhaps this is the moment when I escape from mortals. But what I'm looking forward to the most is tonight's dream, the fantasy world that allows me to escape this boring life for a while.
"What's good about being in a daze, Lao Wang? You really should exercise more." As he spoke, Xiao Zhang picked up the bread I had just bitten and without hesitation took a bite to show his disdain for my eating habits.
"Sports? Do you mean it's boring to run and chase?" I responded sarcastically, chagrined that this guy really should be at some kind of joke convention. Just as I was about to say something more, the colleagues at the door gathered together and seemed to be discussing some secret mission. I took the opportunity to sneak myself out so they wouldn't notice my fixed daze.
When I got back to the office and sat down, I suddenly wondered if I was in a dream. The office computer on the desk was yellow and slow, like I had just eaten the instant noodles of life, flashing all kinds of unread messages, telling me how boring it was. The phantom in my mind gradually became clear, if I was really a superhero, how should I save this world that is being squeezed by work?
"Well, in that case, a mint must be given to the boredom." I said to myself, suggesting that I needed to plan my dream for the night. I decided to set certain goals for my dreams, such as finding a different world where you can be as silly as you want, where everyone is proud of being bored, and who can play dumb better together.
Just then, there was a hubbub from the office next door, which turned out to be a team-building activity organized by the company, like a novel of various "boring journals". Why do I have to share this nonsense with them? I secretly rolled my eyes in my heart, thinking that if nothing strange happened today, it would be more meaningful for me to dream.
However, my stomach began to protest, reminding me that it was time to replenish my energy. Does working effectively mean losing your sense of art? I clenched my fist and said to myself, "Tonight's dream will either let me fly or let me be ravaged by the universe." It seems that the distance between me and the opportunity is only the difference between me and the working hours this week. Surely it would take the ability to unlock dreams to reverse this interesting normality, since real life has made me feel outdated.
I decided to use my lunch hour to have some fun in the "boring" section. Colleagues here are always busy, as if the pursuit of some extreme lack of fun. So I started to use my "super power" - my out-of-body, looking around at their funny moments. "Hey, Lao Wang, are you thinking about the truth of the universe again?" Xiao Zhang appeared again, his mouth hung with the kind of vigor that I hate.
"Of course, I'm thinking about how to end this boring adventure." I replied, secretly planning how to use lunch to rekindle those pent-up passions for adventure. It seems that it is necessary to do something "special" for yourself during this interval.
After lunch, I decided to head to the company's rooftop, away from the screaming offices. The Boring Party met there to support each other's ridiculous lives. I went up to the rooftop and saw a group of colleagues sitting around, playing what looked like some boring board game. I can't help feeling that life is full of incredible miracles.
"Old Wang, come and play!" A female colleague called me, smiling like a child who had not grown up. Normally, I rarely participate in such activities, but today I seem to want to try something new. Maybe I can act like a superhero and use this "boring" power to create more miracles.
"Well, I never saw your boredom level create so much joy." I sat down and smiled and joined in. Laughter filled the roof, as if I were in a bubble of dreams, while my actual feelings were so relaxed that they seemed to float in the air.
During the game, I began to think that if this was the real scene in my dream, it would be a wonderful start. If I could jump into some dimension the next moment and fight with those fallen superheroes, then I could make this city explode in a boring explosion. I hope my dreams every night give me some inspiration, guide me to find the lost passion.
"You guys really know how to play. Is boredom the ultimate art?" I join the game, the language is not without irony. The laughter around me immediately aimed at me, as if we had just learned a secret, excited to death.
"Lao Wang, you are really a wizard. You have told me the true meaning of life." A colleague half-jokingly pinched my shoulder, and I thought to myself, maybe in this boring work environment, at least we can find joy in each other. A long-lost sense of relaxation gradually rose in my heart, is really a powerful weapon against boredom.
"This is environmental protection, green boring life!" I shouted back, and the playful atmosphere helped me forget the tedium of the day. Just as I was about to continue to show my humorous talent, I turned to see Xiao Zhang with an expression of reluctance, as if he had just swallowed a raw egg.
"You really don't treat me like a stranger, just bring me in." Xiao Zhang looked at me with a glimmer of expectation in his eyes. I patted the seat next to me and said, "Come on, join the Boredom club, guaranteed to make you feel a whole new boredom experience."
Just then, my phone suddenly lit up, like an excited child, interrupting our joy. "Damn, it's about time." I sneered as I flipped through the news. "Is it a reminder of my dream? Would you like to send me a schedule?"
Through the screen of my phone, I noticed a message from the boss of the company, which turned out to be about the overtime arrangement for tonight. I shook my head helplessly, thinking, "Isn't this a boring upgrade?" And I kept fighting inside: "Tonight's dream must be special!"
The atmosphere of the game continues, but my mind has flown to tonight's dream, dreaming of an unusual adventure. Maybe I can turn into a superhero in my dream and save those who are bound by boredom. It was then that a strange smile spread across my face, as if I foresaw the wonderful journey that was about to unfold.
"Lao Wang, you look like you've eaten some strange candy." Xiao Zhang ruthlessly interrupted my thoughts, and I pretended to be focused on my phone while I was thinking about tonight's dream, suddenly feeling like a bit of a mad scientist, dreaming up all kinds of strange scenarios in my head.
"I'm trying to figure out how to be a hero in my dreams, with winning skills, of course." I replied, never intending to let him know of the frivolous plan I had in mind. After all, who would have thought that "the ultimate defeat of boredom" would be the subject of my dreams?
"You should really consider being a joke transmitter, saying you're not perfect at this." Xiao Zhang played a joke again. My eyes passed through him and fell on the blue sky outside the window, the perfect backdrop for a dream. Suddenly, a bold thought occurred to me: Wouldn't it be wonderful if tonight's dream allowed me to connect with other boring people and make these bad days fun?
"Speaking of dreams, get ready for your superhero tonight, Lao Wang." I patted Xiao Zhang on the shoulder. He seemed somewhat displeased, his eyes revealed a joking look, "Don't say, I really hope to become a superman in the dream, defeat the boss who forces me to work overtime every day."
"Well, the dream boss is more difficult than the reality." I couldn't help but laugh, and for a moment I was kind of looking forward to having a fantastic conversation with these characters. In a flash, my mood has become much easier, just to meet the afternoon breeze, blowing away the dull dull. Life is boring, but dreams can make everything new.
Finally, when lunch was over, I walked back to the office with a smile on my face and a little bit of wishful thinking. Even if I have to work overtime, I have set up a potential "escape channel" in my heart, as long as I can fly in my dreams with peace of mind, I am willing to work hard.
Back in the office, my mood is much lighter, and even the repeated crash of my antique computer is less disturbing. In the meantime, Xiao Zhang continued to talk about his boring theory, and I nodded in response, and my mind was already busy with tonight's dream adventure.
"Lao Wang, are you really going to read the boring world?" Xiao Zhang asked slyly, as if waiting for my answer. A smile spread across my face. "Of course, I'm ready to prioritize the boredom of life. Sometimes it can be wise to escape."
"Running away from wisdom? Then the world is yours to save." Xiao Zhang has an exaggerated expression on his face, as if he is imagining a fantastical scenario in which I am a superhero. Come to think of it, this kid's imagination is probably better than mine.
"Well, if I could save the world in my dreams, you'd be my deputy." I said it mysteriously, like a big man in control. Xiao Zhang's eyes flashed a resonance, "Don't say, it's not bad to partner with you in your dream, to fight boring monsters."
At that moment, the office lights suddenly flashed, and everyone looked up and glanced in my direction. Yes, I am the boring center of attention, really caught up in this weird "spotlight game"! I thought to myself: What is going on, is the office going to have a mysterious dream monster?
"Lao Wang, this is called destiny, I think you should try to think of this as a superhero call." Xiao Zhang squeezed my shoulder as he spoke. I tried to suppress my inner embarrassment and thought: Yes, it seems that this doomed scene will always escape, and tonight's dream must be more wonderful in order to make up for the embarrassment of the day.
As the lights flickered, everyone's expressions seemed to be full of expectations, but I felt an invisible pressure welling up in my heart. Maybe tonight, my dreams will be different. Anyway, I decided to give myself a chance to take a risk, and maybe that's one of the things about life.
"Lao Wang, let's go and celebrate tonight!" Xiao Zhang suddenly proposed, with a smirk on his face. He seems to have completely forgotten that we still have the fate of overtime. At this moment, I almost laughed out: "Celebrate what, celebrate to work overtime?" " My tone was full of irony, but my feelings were immediately mixed at the thought of the adventures I could dream of at night.
"To celebrate our boring lives! Look, just think of it as an opportunity to raise super powers!" Xiao Zhang suddenly had a little passion, his mouth was like a tap with a brake on. The more he talked, the more I realized that this guy looked like a boring philosopher, dressed in a fantastic suit of armor, ready for an unknown adventure.
"Well, maybe we can have a boring party, and when everyone shows up, we can fight in our dreams!" I pretended to respond seriously, but inside I was betting on whether Xiao Zhang could come up with more boring ideas. Today's work is really an other-dimensional carnival, but our roles have strayed a bit from the main line.
"I don't think it's boring. I think it's a wonderful philosophy of life." Xiao Zhang said with a serious expression, trying to make us both find meaning in the boredom. My heart clicked, is it really so? So I re-examined this seemingly boring moment and found that the fun was also witness to some small blessings.
Just as I was about to give Xiao Zhang a helpless look, suddenly the office door was pushed open and there came a marketing executive in a strange costume, like a character from a fantasy drama: "Today is your boring day, are you ready for more fun?" This sudden turn, made me sweat in an instant, perhaps tonight's adventure is about to begin.
"Look, the dream is coming true! Lao Wang, are you ready?" Xiao Zhang pointed to the marketing director as if he had found a treasure. My smile grew even weirder, as if the universe had given me a passport. I secretly hope that the journey in my dream tonight will be different, maybe it will be a wonderful cycle to escape the boredom of this day by day.
