“So, what will you do next?”, Norah asked. “It will be weird to go on without her.”, I said. Norah squeezed my hand. “We’re here when you need us.”, she said. I smiled sadly; my mom was all the family I had. “Is it weird that I’m not crying?”, I asked. “No.”, Norah answered decisively. “You do what feels right for you and let no one tell you otherwise! I think you are already accepting that she is no longer with us. Mourning is a different process for all of us.” I nodded. She was right. Lily had a normal life, with a normal family, normal job and normal friends. Focused on her career, she made no time for boyfriends. Not that the right ones wanted her anyways... But after her mom's death she is stupified when she learns that she is now the proud owner of 2 houses in Europe and a million dollar trust fund. Turns out, her life is not so boring anymore, her mom never was boring, and the job brings her into more problems than she needed. And the men, they are now fighting for her heart. In Too Deep: a mafia story

“Lily.”, he said again, walking towards me. For a second, I had forgotten he was in the room. I had also forgotten just how tall he was. And not to mention incredibly handsome. For the first time today, his gaze was on me, and I was feeling the effect. His eyes were studying every part of my body lazily. 


“Matteo. Or would you rather me call you Asshole?”, I managed to say. My mouth was suddenly parched, and I was feeling hot under his gaze. I was also getting frustrated that his face was so hard to read. Was he feeling anything? Was this a game to him? Was I a challenge? You tell me because I had no fucking clue anymore. 


He chuckled at my question but didn’t answer. Matteo walked slowly towards me, but as I stood frozen, he was in front of me in no time. In the back of my mind, I had registered him closing the door of the room, but for some reason my mind didn’t come up for a possible reason to do so.
