Tense Chilling Moments

But the moment we entered, the familiar scent of antiseptic hit me, sharp and clean. The room looked pristine, unnervingly so. Too clean.

"This is where it happened," I murmured, my voice a whisper as my gaze traveled over the spotless counters, the orderly rows of files. My heart thudded harder.

It was impossible. The place where we'd found the body should still have traces, evidence. But here? Not a single sign.

Bailey's brow furrowed, her gaze roaming the room. "Even if they moved the body, you'd think they'd still have left it as a crime scene, right?"

I nodded slowly, a chill running down my spine. "Something's off, Bailey."

We spread out, scouring the room for any clue, anything that could tell us what had happened.

But there was nothing. No bloodstains and no evidence. The space was disturbingly empty, as if nothing out of the ordinary had ever taken place.
