Chapter 45

Lydian POV:

I dialed his number, my fingers moving with a mix of anticipation and frustration. The phone rang, each passing moment feeling like an eternity. Finally, he answered, his voice low and detached.

"What do you want, Lydian?" he asked, his tone calm and heartless.

I sighed, trying to keep my emotions in check. "When will you start liking my calls?"

He evaded the question, his voice firm. "Why are you calling?"

I laughed, a hint of bitterness creeping into my tone. "You sure know how to avoid questions. Anyway, I wanted to ask if you're in the city."

He cut me off, his words curt. "If that's all, then I'll end the call."

The line went dead, and I couldn't believe he had hung up on me again. "Alex, you need to stop doing this to me," I muttered to myself.
