 Long ago, there were other powers on the continent other than the Cloud Empire. After Zian Yi conquered the Cloud Empire, he went on to conquer everything else. One of the powers that was separate from the Cloud Empire was the Rain Duchy. This was a medium-sized nation that had been strong enough to remain intact even in the face of the domineering Cloud Empire. 


The former rulers of this duchy had shared blood with the former royal family of the Cloud Empire, and the last Duke had even been the brother of the last emperor of the Cloud Empire.
