Bath after battle

The battle had ended. It was fierce, but ultimately sorrowful—unlike anything the three generals had anticipated.

As they dashed through the sprawling Transylvanian forests with incredible speed, their expressions were marked by gloom:

General Kaliyah, who had sought to toy with humans, secure their blood for her masters, and revel in the carnage, found herself entangled in unexpected emotions. Somewhere along the line, she developed feelings for a human hero. Naturally, those feelings were unrequited. And as expected, the ache lingered like the unwelcome guest it was.

General Gideon, reluctantly dragged along, had only wanted to complete the mission swiftly, procure the blood, and return to their masters. Disobedience to their orders gnawed at him. Yet, against all odds, he befriended a human—one he cried for dearly after their demise. Their demise struck him like a dagger to the heart.
