KAI'S POV

"You have five seconds to tell me where she is, Liam, or I promise you that you will live to regret ever crossing my path."

The glass of water before him shook as I punched a fist into the table. He flinched but never broke his gaze, eyes defied. And there was fear there, though he tried his best to hide it:

"You're mistaken, Kai." He snarled it, teeth almost clenching, his tone so close to booming, "Zara isn't to be found. She is safe where she is, and you, have no right dragging her back into your mess."

My head leaned closer to him, my voice dropping to a husky, threatening whisper. "That wasn't an answer to my question."

Liam swallowed, hard, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. He was in that room already, reprocessing what was at stake. I knew I could tell just by looking at his face, really wondering if he could afford to challenge me anymore. If he was going to be honest with himself, he knew he couldn't. I did.
