AMELIA MEETS HER IN-LAWS

"Xioa Ken, you are finally here," Old Madam Yang said with a warm smile, her eyes lighting up as she spoke.

"Grandfather, Grandmother, may I introduce to you my wife, Amelia," Kendrick said in a respectful tone, gesturing towards his wife.

"Grandfather, Grandmother, I'm Amelia," Amelia said with a kind smile and a gentle bow, expressing warmth and politeness.

"Come here and sit with Grandma, my good child," Kendrick's Grandmother beckoned Amelia.

Amelia dutifully approached and settled down next to the respected matriarch.

"Grandma, did you like the chair? I and Amelia bought it last night," Kendrick inquired, gesturing to the newly acquired furniture.

The Old Master recounted the scene vividly, describing, "You should have seen her meticulously inspecting the chair, circling it repeatedly until I started to feel dizzy just watching her," which made Kendrick and Amelia laugh.

The Old Madam, unfazed by her husband's presence, directed her attention toward Amelia, who was seated beside her.

"What a beautiful child. Good, good," Old Madam Yang remarked as she held Amelia's hand.

The Old Madam gestured with her hand, prompting an elderly woman to step forward with a wooden box.

The Old Madam Yang lifted the lid of the ornate wooden box with great care, unveiling a magnificent jade bracelet. The intricate piece of jewelry was adorned with a majestic gold dragon and adorned with glistening rubies that caught the light, adding a mesmerizing allure to the bracelet. With a gentle touch, Old Madam Yang placed the exquisite jewelry onto Amelia's outstretched hand, creating a captivating and enchanting sight as it rested on her wrist.

"Here is a special gift that I bought for my beloved Granddaughter-in-law." Old Madam Yang expressed.

"Grandma, I really appreciate this, but it's too generous of you."

As Kendrick's parents walked into the room, Matilde Yang couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. Her granddaughter-in-law, Amelia, was wearing a stunning jade bracelet that had been gifted to her by Kendrick's grandmother. Matilde had never received such a lavish gift from her own mother-in-law.

The Old Madam gazed fondly at Amelia, gently holding her hand, and remarked, "This is what Kendrick's wife should signify as the leader of the family."

Amelia hesitated, uncertain about what to do, and glanced at Kendrick, silently seeking his approval. When Kendrick nodded in agreement, it gave her the reassurance she needed to accept their grandmother's gift.

Amelia expressed her gratitude to her Grandma with a polite "Thank you."

Old Madam Yang lovingly acknowledged Amelia's good manners with a nod and a warm smile.

The recently arrived couple showed little interest in greeting the elderly couple. The couple's attention was wholly fixated on Amelia and the intricately designed jade bracelet she was wearing, without disregarding the astounding assortment of five-billion necklaces that Kendrick had purchased the previous evening that had been on their mind all along.

Frank Yang criticized, "Isn't this too much to give her? We don't even know where she came from."

The Old Master was well acquainted with his son and daughter-in-law, understanding their tendency towards jealousy, especially when it came to their son, Kendrick.

Old Master Yang responded sharply, "What does your mother's gift to her Granddaughter-in-law have to do with you? And what about you? What gift did you bring to give your daughter-in-law?"

"What reason do I have to give her anything? I don't even know her background or where she comes from. And Kendrick has already purchased a five-billion-dollar necklace for her; isn't that enough?" argued Frank Yang.

Kendrick leaned in close to Amelia and spoke softly, "Just ignore what they're saying; it's not important."

Amelia quietly nodded in understanding.

"Frank and Matilde Yang felt a surge of irritation as they noticed the young couple whispering to each other and completely ignoring them without a greeting.

"Kendrick, when do you plan to have your wedding?" inquired the Old Madam.

"I will discuss it with Amelia, Grandma. We can make arrangements for it at the earliest convenience," Kendrick replied.

"Good, good," the Old Madam nodded in approval.

Matilde Yang commented, "Aren't they already married? What's the point of having a wedding?" but those around her disregarded her words.

Old Madam inquired, "May I ask, Amelia, how old are you?"

"I am twenty-six years old now, Grandma," Amelia said, her voice trembling with a mixture of nervousness and unwavering determination.

Matilde Yand's sharp voice cut through the air, her disapproval evident as she exclaimed, "Why would a woman of twenty-six marry a man of forty-five? She can't possibly be naive."

Amelia felt the gentle pat on her hand from the old Madam, pulling her focus away from Matilde Yang.

"That's good to hear. And what about your parents?"

"They are both working abroad, Grandma," Amelia replied.

"Kendrick, how could you marry such an ordinary woman when women from wealthy families want to marry you?" Kendrick's mother asked, her voice a mix of disbelief and disappointment.

Amelia, feeling the weight of the words, looked down, her silence speaking volumes.

Kendrick's frustration grew as he struggled to contain his emotions in the face of his mother's cutting remarks.

Kendrick was taken aback by the unexpected comment about Amelia's family coming from his mother. "I couldn't believe that of all people, you would call Amelia's family ordinary. Amelia's parents were hardworking individuals. Amelia herself had achieved an impressive feat by earning a PhD and pursuing a career as a jewelry designer. Did you not consider your lack of formal education and employment?"

In a fit of anger, Kendrick reminded his mother of her background. He pointed, "If I remember correctly, your father was my grandfather's gardener, and you married into the family by drugging your husband." Kendrick's stinging words should forced his mother to consider how her own family could be judged if she labeled Amelia's family as ordinary.

"You Bastard!" Frank Yang's voice boomed with anger as he confronted Kendrick. "How could you talk to your mother like this?" he demanded. "Just because I handed the company over to you, you are now being too arrogant?"

"I don't have a mother, only a grandmother. Regarding taking over the company, I recall being asked to assume control at a young age because it was facing severe financial challenges under your leadership. It was on the brink of bankruptcy at that time."
