Chapter 10 New Obstacles

The flames of the explosion shot up into the sky, like a gorgeous firework, instantly illuminating half of the sky. The blazing light seemed to burn the whole world, and William Davis' figure was particularly majestic in it. He slowly lowered his arms, and the violent energy fluctuations gradually subsided like surging waves. Gun smoke spread, and the air was filled with the smell of burning, which was pungent and strong, making people feel as if they were in a war-torn hell.

Emily Wilson and David Clark had not recovered from the shock yet, their eyes were full of astonishment and disbelief. At this moment, they saw William Davis' body swaying and almost falling. At that moment, their hearts were in their throats.

"William Davis!" Emily Wilson hurried forward to support him and asked worriedly, "Are you okay?" Her voice was full of concern and anxiety, as if she was worried about the person closest to her.

William Davis shook his head, his face pale. The outburst just now almost exhausted all his strength. "I'm fine, just over-exerted." His voice was a little weak, but full of determination.

"Did you destroy all those aliens?" David Clark pointed at the devastated battlefield, with a hint of disbelief in his tone. His eyes were full of doubt and expectation, as if he was waiting for a miracle to happen.

"No, it's not over yet." William Davis took a deep breath and looked up at the sky. His eyes were full of vigilance and worry, as if he had a premonition that a bigger crisis was coming.

Sure enough, behind the wreckage of the destroyed warship, a larger interstellar warship slowly sailed out. The warship was huge, like a moving steel fortress. Its hull exuded a faint blue light, which was like a mysterious magic, making people feel both awe and fear. The surface was flowing with complex energy patterns, and it was obvious at first glance that it was not a product of civilization at the level of Zack Stone.

"What is that?" David Clark exclaimed. His voice was filled with fear and anxiety, as if he had seen the end of the world.

"That's... a new enemy." William Davis said in a deep voice, with an unprecedented sense of crisis in his heart. His eyes were full of determination and resolve, as if telling himself that no matter how great the difficulties were, he would not back down.

At this time, a deep and majestic voice came from the huge interstellar battleship, resounding throughout the battlefield. The voice was like thunder, making people's ears buzz.

"Earth Civilization, we are envoys from the Interstellar Alliance. The purpose of our trip is to maintain peace in the universe and stop Zack Stone's barbaric aggression."

Hearing these high-sounding words, William Davis sneered in his heart. Maintaining the peace of the universe? I'm afraid the real purpose is not the bar.

"Zack Stone has been repelled by us, you can leave now." William Davis said coldly. His voice was full of firmness and determination, as if telling the other party that the fate of the earth is decided by the earthlings themselves.

"No, the threat from Zack Stone has not been resolved. We must ensure that the Earth is no longer threatened." The messenger of the Interstellar Alliance said in a tough tone, "For the sake of cosmic peace, we will take over the defense of the Earth."

William Davis' heart was immediately filled with alarm bells. He knew that this so-called "Interstellar Alliance" was simply trying to take advantage of the situation and turn the Earth into their colony!

"The fate of the Earth is decided by ourselves, and no external forces are needed to interfere!" William Davis said without giving in. His voice was full of anger and determination, as if to declare to the other side that the people of Earth would not succumb to the oppression of any external forces.

"Foolish creature, don't make mistakes!" The envoy of the Interstellar Alliance obviously lost his patience. "We have technological power that you can't imagine. Refusing to cooperate will only bring you destruction!"

As soon as the words fell, a blue beam suddenly shot out from the huge interstellar battleship. The beam was like lightning, instantly piercing the sky. It accurately hit a fortification of the Earth Defense Alliance. With a deafening explosion, the fortification was instantly razed to the ground. The scene was like the advent of doomsday, making people feel extremely desperate and terrified.

William Davis and others suddenly became extremely solemn, realizing that a more difficult battle was about to begin. Their eyes were full of determination, as if telling themselves that no matter how great the difficulties were, they would not back down.

"It seems that we have no choice." William Davis' eyes flashed with determination, "We must unite all the forces that can be united to protect our homeland!" William Davis clenched his fists. The strong intervention of the Interstellar Alliance made him feel tremendous pressure. He knew that the Earth Defense Alliance could not compete with it with its current strength. The opponent's technological level was obviously higher than that of the Earth, and they destroyed their painstaking defenses with just one blow.

"I must find their weakness!" William Davis thought to himself. He knew that a head-on confrontation was not the best strategy and he had to find another way.

"Emily Wilson, try to contact the Interstellar Alliance immediately and try to obtain as much intelligence as possible from them, especially their purpose and strength." William Davis gave the order decisively. He knew that Emily Wilson was an expert in this area.

"Understood!" Emily Wilson nodded and quickly returned to the command center to analyze the communication frequency and encryption method of the Interstellar Alliance. Her eyes were full of concentration and determination, as if telling herself that she must complete the mission.

"David Clark, you lead a reconnaissance team and closely monitor the movements of the Interstellar Alliance to see what other intentions they have." William Davis continued to give orders. He needed more intelligence to formulate a battle plan.

"Yes!" David Clark took the order and quickly assembled an elite reconnaissance team. They drove stealth aircraft and quietly sneaked into the vicinity of the Interstellar Alliance fleet. Their figures were like ghosts, making them difficult to detect.

William Davis came to the institute alone. He needed to find a way to improve the technology level of the Earth Defense Alliance. He knew that there were some ancient technological civilization relics on Earth, and perhaps he could find some inspiration from them. The institute was filled with an old atmosphere, and those ancient documents and drawings seemed to tell the glory of the past.

Time was running out, and William Davis raced against time to study those ancient documents and drawings, hoping to find a breakthrough. His eyes were full of concentration and determination, as if telling himself that he must find a way to save the earth. He knew that the fate of the earth was in their hands and they must not give up easily.

Some news also came from Emily Wilson. She successfully intercepted some communications within the Interstellar Alliance and deciphered part of the content.

"The Interstellar Alliance does not seem to be united. They are divided on whether to take over the Earth." Emily Wilson reported to William Davis, "Some people advocate peaceful coexistence, while others advocate tough control."

"It seems that we still have a chance." William Davis' eyes flashed with hope, "If we can take advantage of their internal conflicts, we may be able to find a breakthrough."

"I also discovered that the leadership of the Interstellar Alliance seems to attach great importance to something called 'Star Energy Crystal'." Emily Wilson continued, "Their fleet has been searching for traces of this crystal."

"Star Energy Crystal?" William Davis frowned slightly. He had never heard of such a thing.

"According to the information I intercepted, Star Energy Crystal is a mineral that contains huge energy and is the energy source of the Interstellar Alliance fleet." Emily Wilson explained, "If we can find this crystal, perhaps we can use it to improve our weapons and equipment, or even develop weapons that are powerful enough to fight against the Interstellar Alliance."

William Davis' eyes lit up. This might be an opportunity! He immediately ordered all intelligence personnel to search for information about the "Star Energy Crystal".

At the same time, David Clark's reconnaissance team also sent back important intelligence.

"Report! We have discovered a strange planet near the Interstellar Alliance fleet, and their fleet seems to have been orbiting this planet." David Clark's voice came from the communicator.

"Strange planet?" William Davis thought, "Tell me more about it."

"This planet is a strange purple color and there is no sign of life on the surface, but the fleet of the Interstellar Alliance has paid special attention to it." David Clark described, "We suspect that this planet may be related to what they call 'star energy crystals'."

William Davis took a deep breath, and his intuition told him that David Clark's discovery might be a key breakthrough. He decided to go to the purple planet to find out for himself.

William Davis acted decisively and called together David Clark, Emily Wilson and General Matthew Cooper to discuss the plan to go to the purple planet.

"According to David Clark's discovery, the fleet of the Interstellar Alliance has been circling that purple planet, and they seem to attach great importance to things like 'Star Energy Crystals'." William Davis pointed to the planet emitting a strange light on the star map and said, "So I speculate that this planet is likely to contain a large amount of 'Star Energy Crystals', and it may even be their energy base!"

"If we can destroy their energy base, we can completely cut off their energy supply and force them to lose without a fight!" General Matthew Cooper clenched his fists, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"But the Interstellar Alliance's fleet is heavily guarded. How can we break through their defenses?" Emily Wilson raised her question.

"This is what we need to plan for." William Davis tapped his fingers on the table. "David Clark, you know their fleet deployment best. Tell me, what are the weaknesses in their defense system?"

David Clark pondered for a moment, pointed to a location on the star map and said, "According to our observations, the fleet of the Interstellar Alliance is mainly concentrated on the front of the purple planet, while the back is relatively weak."

"This is because they thought no one could break through the front defense, so they relaxed their vigilance on the back," Emily Wilson added.

"That's right!" William Davis' eyes flashed, "We can use this to go around to the purple planet from the back and launch a surprise attack on their energy base!"

"But our warships cannot avoid the radar detection of the Interstellar Alliance." General Matthew Cooper said worriedly, "Once they discover us, all our efforts will be wasted."

"I already have a solution for this." William Davis smiled confidently, "Emily Wilson, do you remember the space pirate's stealth warship we captured before?"

Emily Wilson's eyes lit up: "You mean, 'Ghost'?"

"That's right! The Ghost has the most advanced stealth system, which can perfectly avoid the radar detection of the Interstellar Alliance." William Davis explained, "We can use the Ghost to carry an elite team and sneak into the purple planet."

"This is a bold plan, but it is also very risky," General Matthew Cooper calmly analyzed. "If the Ghost is discovered, we will lose our only hope."

"I know." William Davis took a deep breath, "But this is our only chance of winning, we have to take a chance!"

After a heated discussion, everyone finally agreed on William Davis' plan.

The action plan was carefully formulated, and every step was carefully considered. They decided that William Davis would personally lead David Clark, Emily Wilson and an elite team to drive the Ghost to the Purple Planet, while General Matthew Cooper would stay on Earth to command the overall situation.

On the eve of the operation, the Ghost quietly moored in the secret base of the Earth Defense Alliance, and William Davis and his team were making final preparations. The hull of the Ghost exuded a mysterious light, as if telling its legendary story.

"This operation is related to the survival of the Earth. I hope everyone can be fully alert and go all out!" William Davis said to the team members in a serious manner, "We have only one goal for this trip, and that is to destroy the energy base of the Interstellar Alliance and completely crush their conspiracy!"

"Yes!" The team members responded in unison, with a determined light flashing in their eyes. That light was like the stars in the night sky, illuminating their way forward.

However, they did not know that at this moment, a deadly trap was waiting for them...

Under the cover of night, the Ghost quietly sailed away from the Earth. William Davis stood in the cockpit, looking at the blue planet that was gradually going away, feeling uneasy. The uneasy feeling was like a dark cloud, covering his heart.

"What's wrong? Are you nervous?" Emily Wilson walked up to him and asked softly. Her voice was like the spring breeze, warm and gentle.

"No, I just have a bad feeling." William Davis frowned, "I always feel that this operation is too smooth, too smooth to be true."

"Maybe you are worrying too much?" David Clark came over. "We have made all the necessary preparations. The Ghost's stealth system is the most advanced currently. It is impossible for the Interstellar Alliance to discover us."

William Davis shook his head, but his uneasiness grew stronger. His intuition told him that things were not that simple.

A few hours later, the Ghost had already approached the purple planet, which was emitting a mysterious light, as if calling them.

"Report, a patrol fleet of the Interstellar Alliance has been spotted ahead!" The radar operator suddenly sounded the alarm. The alarm was like a sharp thorn, piercing everyone's heart.

"What? How did they find us?" David Clark was shocked. His eyes were full of fear and confusion.

"Oh no, we've fallen into a trap!" William Davis' face suddenly changed, and he understood what was going on. His heart was filled with anger and regret.

Before they could react, dense energy shells were already overwhelming the "Ghost". The shells were like a rainstorm, leaving no place for people to escape.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

The Ghost shook violently, and the alarm rang throughout the cabin. The alarm sounded like a death knell, making people feel extremely desperate.

"Damn it! The stealth system failed!" David Clark exclaimed. His eyes were full of despair and helplessness.

"Someone must have leaked our action plan!" Emily Wilson gritted her teeth and said, her eyes full of anger and hatred.

William Davis forced himself to calm down and decisively issued an order: "Abandon the raid and retreat immediately!"

However, it was too late.

The fleet of the Interstellar Alliance has surrounded the Ghost, and the dense artillery fire is pouring down like a violent storm. The artillery fire is like the scythe of the god of death, which may reap their lives at any time.

Under the fierce attack, the Ghost was scarred and on the verge of collapse. Its hull was covered with bullet holes, as if telling of its tragic experience.

"boom!"

After a loud bang, the engine room of the Ghost was hit and a raging fire broke out. The fire was like a devil's flame, devouring everything.

"The engine room is on fire and the power system is seriously damaged!"

"Damn it! We're trapped!"

A feeling of despair spread throughout the cabin. Everyone's face was filled with despair and helplessness, as if the end of the world had come.

William Davis tried his best to control the Ghost to fight back, but facing the powerful firepower of the Interstellar Alliance, their resistance seemed insignificant. His eyes were full of determination and unyielding, as if telling himself that he could not give up.

Finally, under the fierce attack, the Ghost exploded and turned into a huge fireball. The fireball was like the sun, illuminating the entire universe.

William Davis woke up from his coma and found himself lying in the ruins. His body seemed to be falling apart and he was in great pain.

"Cough cough..." He struggled to get up, feeling severe pain all over his body, as if he was being bitten by countless ants.

"Emily Wilson! David Clark!" He shouted his companion's name, his voice hoarse. The voice was full of despair and helplessness, as if calling for the last hope.

However, the only response he got was deathly silence, which was like a heavy yoke that made him unable to breathe.

William Davis looked around and saw a scene that was like hell on earth: broken wreckage of warships, burning flames, corpses lying all over the place... The scene was like a picture of doomsday, which made people feel extremely desperate and terrified.

"how so..."

William Davis knelt on the ground helplessly, his eyes full of pain and self-blame. His heart was filled with remorse and despair, as if he were a sinner.

He knew that the failure of this operation was his fault.

It was he who underestimated the enemy's cunning, it was he who failed to detect the traitor within, it was he who led his companions into the abyss of death...

"I harmed them..."

William Davis clenched his fists tightly, his nails dug deep into his flesh, blood flowed down his fingers, but he was unaware. His heart was devoured by deep remorse and despair, he didn't know what else he could do, and he didn't know who he could trust.

Just when William Davis was almost in despair, a familiar voice sounded in his ears: "Child, cheer up! You have a more important mission to accomplish..."

William Davis raised his head suddenly and saw a familiar figure standing in front of him. The figure was like a bright light in the darkness, illuminating his way forward.

"Mr. Morse White?!"

William Davis rubbed his eyes in disbelief. The broken metal ruins glowed coldly in the afterglow of the setting sun. Morse White stood not far away, with his usual unfathomable smile on his face.

"You... Why are you here?" William Davis' voice was hoarse, as if it had been polished by sandpaper. To him, Morse White's existence was like a mirage seen by a traveler in the desert.

"Kid, you shouldn't be so depressed." Morse White walked to William Davis and put his old palm on his shoulder. A warm current flowed through his palm into William Davis' body, dispelling some of the chill. "You have a more important mission."

"Mission? What mission?" William Davis looked up blankly. The voices and smiles of Emily Wilson and David Clark flashed before his eyes, making him even more miserable. "I have failed and killed them..."

"No, you did not fail." Morse White's voice was filled with unquestionable firmness. "The destruction of the Ghost was not accidental. Someone within the Interstellar Alliance deliberately leaked your whereabouts."

"What?!" William Davis' eyes widened in shock, "Who? Why did you do this?"

Morse White's deep gaze seemed to penetrate through layers of fog. He slowly said, "The Interstellar Alliance is not monolithic. There are conflicts of interest and power struggles between the various planets. The one who leaked your whereabouts this time was the force from Proxima Centauri."

William Davis's brain raced, trying to comprehend this sudden information, "Proxima? Why would they do this? Aren't they afraid that we will join forces with Zack Stone?"

Morse White shook his head. "Proxima's ambitions are far greater than you think. They want to monopolize Earth's resources and become the new overlord of the Interstellar Alliance. And you, William Davis, are the biggest obstacle to their plans."

"Me?" William Davis pointed at himself, even more confused, "I'm just an ordinary earthling, how could I be an obstacle to them?" William Davis looked at Morse White puzzled.

Morse White narrowed his eyes slightly and said solemnly: "Child, you have a special power and potential. Once this power is fully awakened, it will pose a huge threat to their ambitions. Your courage, wisdom and firm belief make them feel uneasy. They are afraid that you will lead the earthlings to rise up and break their rule."

William Davis was silent for a moment, with mixed emotions in his heart. He had never thought that he would be involved in such a complicated and dangerous interstellar conflict. But now, he knew that he had no way out.

"Mr. Morse White, what can I do to stop them?" William Davis looked up, his eyes full of determination.

Morse White smiled slightly, with wisdom shining in his eyes: "First, you have to find your companions. I believe that not all of them were killed. Then, we have to expose Proxima's conspiracy and let the peace forces within the Interstellar Alliance stand on our side. Only by uniting more forces can we fight against Proxima's ambitions."

William Davis nodded, a glimmer of hope in his heart. He stood up and began to look for clues in the ruins. He carefully observed the surrounding environment, hoping to find traces of Emily Wilson and David Clark.

Suddenly, he found a broken communicator. He picked it up, looked at it carefully, and had an idea. This communicator was used on the Ghost. If it could be repaired, maybe they could contact other people.

William Davis took action immediately, using his knowledge and skills to try to repair the communicator. After some effort, the communicator finally sent out a weak signal.

"Can anyone hear me? This is William Davis!" William Davis called anxiously.

After a while, there was a burst of noise in the communicator, followed by a faint voice: "William Davis... I am Emily Wilson... I am still alive..."

William Davis was delighted and asked quickly, "Emily, where are you? Where is David Clark?"

"I don't know where I am... I was here when I woke up... David Clark... I don't know what happened to him..." Emily Wilson's voice was full of fatigue and weakness.

"Don't worry, Emily, I will find you." William Davis comforted, "Try to maintain the signal of the communicator, and I will follow the signal to find you."

William Davis began to move in the direction of the communicator's signal. He carefully passed through the ruins and avoided possible dangers. Along the way, he kept calling David Clark's name, hoping to get a response.

Finally, behind a collapsed building, he found Emily Wilson, who was covered in wounds but still had a determined look in her eyes.

"William Davis..." Emily Wilson said weakly.

William Davis quickly ran over and helped her up: "Emily, are you okay?"

"I'm fine..." Emily Wilson forced a smile, "We have to find David Clark."

William Davis nodded, knowing that they could not abandon any of their companions. They continued to search for David Clark in the ruins.

At the same time, Morse White was also using his ability to try to sense David Clark's location. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and felt the energy fluctuations around him.

Finally, he opened his eyes, pointed in a direction and said, "Over there, I feel the presence of David Clark."

William Davis and Emily Wilson immediately went in the direction that Morse White pointed. They walked through a deserted area and came to a huge pit.

"David Clark!" exclaimed William Davis.

They saw David Clark lying unconscious at the bottom of the pit. They quickly went down and rescued David Clark.

"He's alive!" Emily Wilson said in surprise.

William Davis breathed a sigh of relief, and they began to give David Clark first aid. After a while, David Clark slowly opened his eyes.

"We're still alive..." David Clark said weakly.

"Yes, we are still alive." William Davis held his hand tightly, "We will not give up, we will fight against the conspiracy of the Interstellar Alliance together."

The three of them supported each other and stood up, their eyes full of determination. They knew that the battle had just begun, and they must unite to fight for the future of the earth.
