Chapter 3

The cold breeze ran through Delenor's hair as she sped down the street. Finally a breath of fresh air.

The street remained bare as she was only accompanied by the humming rev of her bike. The buildings around were dark, as they weren't lived in and she noted the snow piles on both sides of the road.

At least they saw it fit to clear out the snow, she thought. Just hold on, I'll find your savior, she continued. She stopped her bike and came down. She glanced around in the darkness –okay not so dark. The few neon lights aided her vision a bit. She adjusted her visors and set them to ultraviolet vision.

Alright, not being followed. She sat on her bike and pulled up the bike's holo-map. she searched up the location she got from the bartender.

Sun… dome, right got it.

The map highlights a path to guide her to her destination.

Now to the only exit point of this city, she thought as she revved the engine of the bike. She sped off into the streets once more letting the wind play about her as she rode on her bike. She sat up and spread her arms, this might as well be the most fun I'll get on this trip.

Minutes passed as Delenor continued on the road. She periodically stopped to do some checks, ensuring she wasn't tailed till she arrived at Bottle-neck. It got its name from the fact it was the only emigration port in the city.

Lots of people, luckily I'm not seeking a transport.

The constant murmurs and wailing of children filled the air. This was accompanied by a pungent stench of sweat as the heat from the people present out paced the cold. Delenor towed her bike as she headed past some holographic advertisement which helped light the place. Her goal was to clear herself at the office up front. She skipped the line since she had a transport.

Wait, it's night, and many…

She glanced around and switched to the uv display on her visor.

They don't exist.

Delenor pulled out her gun and her visor disappeared. She noted several figures adorned with red cloaks and ducked behind her bike for cover.

Tszzt,

She heard spark sounds and fled from her cover. A huge flash of lightning struck her former position as she fled.

Lightning projectors, she thought. Delenor shot one on the head and dove out of the way as more lightning bursts came at her.

Not so skilled, these must be lesser children,

She rolled and fired more shots in their direction but they were gone, except the one she shot earlier. She turned around searching for them and someone held her arm from behind. ZZZT, a flash of lightning ensued before she could react.

Every sound muffled as she fell after the shock. One of the lesser children dragged Delenor from the ground and cuffed her with electric braces. Long-range rifles were fired. One after the other, each cloaked figure fell.

A voice came through her comms, "...righ…there…"

Who's this,

The cloaked enforcers leaped and ran off leaving Delenor and in a few minutes quite the number of people flooded into Bottle-neck, armed with rifles.

Oh the rebellion,

One of the men approached her and removed her cuffs and helped her up. She turned around to get a proper glance of the surroundings. Her visors were back so she set them back to normal display. A man walked towards Delenor and the others gave way as he approached her.

"Commander Maurice, de facto leader of the rebellion," he offered a handshake which She accepted.

"Thanks, bu…"

She started but was interrupted by Maurice, "Don't worry we can help, we've been following you long enough to know you want to stick it to the 'Family'".

"Alright, thanks for the help," she says and holstered her rifle. She headed for her bike. The rebellion leader grabbed her by the arm.

"Look you won't make it on your own," he said, ignoring her glare. She sighed. And he continued.

"I'm gonna give it to you, you were good back there, but like they did, the 'Family' will always overpower you, I'm giving you a chance to be part of something that works."

Delenor's teeth sunk into her lip. She shook her arm free and turned to her bike. Maurice furrowed his eyebrows.

"There's only one person who can stop the 'Family'," she said, as her bike chimed on activation. "And it's my task to find her."

"Do you think we should sit and wait for some legend to come save us? What're the chances your legend isn't hiding?" He asked as Delenor entered her bike. She revved the engine.

"Well then we better hope she's not hiding, because if she is, then we're all doomed," she said. "Thanks for the save anyway."

Delenor drove off on her bike, leaving Maurice standing with his hands on his waist. He sighs and signaled his men to round up and go.
