Chapter 5

Delenor's bike gave off its regular soft hum as she rode beside the train tracks. She kept looking at the map opened before her. It marked a path which she followed.

What do they even want to do here?

The bike beeped, meaning she had gotten to the proposed location and she stopped. She tuned the comms on her visor,

"Captain Maurice, Delenor speaking."

"Yes, Captain Maurice on the line."

"I'm at the location. All that's here is a train track," she gestured to the track beside her.

"No worries just wait for our cue–"

"And what's it gonna be?"

"You'll know it when you see it."

Delenor sighed and leaned her head on her dashboard, "Great."

The hums of a train's engines made her flinch. It came from behind her.

Please don't be what I think it is,

Maurice's voice came through her comms,

Come on.

"Can you see the train on its way?"

"Oh come on Mr., This or finding my legend which sounds more crazy?" She came down from the bike and turned back. She watched as the train came closer.

"At least we're doing something," he said. "This is like robbing a bank, while you were literally chasing bigfoot."

Her bike hummed in activation as she entered, "points of correction sire, Gengs is alive and bigfoot isn't. And banks don't move on tracks."

"Either way, you in or not?"

Delenor sucked her teeth and turned off the comms.

The train had come closer and she could spot tiny figures on top of it. She sped forward as the train passed her. She did well to stay close to the train to facilitate her jump. She leaped off her bike and grabbed one of the car's doors. She pulled herself up and leaned on the car. The breeze from the train's motion kept her hair up. She took a breath and looked up and saw Maurice. He offered her a hand.

"Need a hand?"

She glares at him, "redundant." She took his hand anyway and he pulled her to the top of the car.

"Sorry for not properly informing you."

Delenor nodded and unsheathed her rifle, "so we're taking the entire train?"

"Exactly."

Sounds of boots thudding attracted her attention. She looked backward and saw other rebels as they traversed from car to car towards them. They were all on winter coats, Maurice included.

"What were they doing?" Delenor asked, gesturing to the rebels.

"The target is to get them to come up top, if we go in the train–"

"It's like fighting on land again. Smart, picking the situation where the general disadvantages eliminates the abilities of either party, making it all come down to who copes best in such scenarios…"

She trails off by noting Maurice's rapid blinking, "sorry, I live alone, so I tend to ramble a lot."

Get a hold of yourself.

Not so long after the rebels joined them in their car, heads started popping out from air locks on the roof.

"Everyone, take positions," Maurice yelled.

Delenor pulled open some airlocks and used them as cover. The others did likewise behind her.

Maurice and his men took down a few of the 'Family's' security, but they got some injured amongst them as well. Delenor herself took down three.

This is too easy, something's not great, she thought.

"Commander, something's not good, this is too easy." she said and shook off the line of her bob covering her right eye.

"I've been thinking so myself, no 'children'." Maurice replied. He turned to some of his allies, "Check the supplies."

Two noded and went for one of the airlocks up front. Another batch of security arrived ahead of those sent to check the supplies. The two rebels took cover behind an open airlock. Delenor covered for the rebels and took down some of the Security officers. This attracted their attention and the rebels took the opportunity to slip into the car. The security overwhelmed her and she ducked back to cover. The fact they just got to a bend did not help either. But that meant a good thing as the enemy had the same disadvantage. She turned to Maurice and his allies who were treating some wounded.

"Hey I need support," She said but the constant thuds of rifle beams striking metal muffled her voice. "Hey I need support," she yelled and Maurice responded this time. Maurice picked up his rifle and got up. A security officer came out from the open airlocks in front of Maurice. Delenor bit her lip and took that one out.

Got to end this quick… can't keep killing like this, she thought as she sat behind her cover.

The two rebels sent to check the supplies came out of the airlocks in front of Delenor and joined her.

"How is it?" She asked.

"Legit," one replied, making a ten with his fingers.

That's odd,

A loud metal cringe sound comes from far ahead of the train. Delenor flinched. She got up and adjusted her visor's zoom. Nothing seemed off.

UV display,

She switched to uv display.

Mother,

Delenor realized the tracks ahead had disappeared, and they were barrelling off the cliff.
