As soon as Jiang Cheng finished speaking, the Fatty felt that everyone's gaze towards him suddenly changed, especially Liang Long, the rock climber, who deliberately distanced herself from him.
"It seems Brother Hao and Brother Chubby know each other," Chen Ran raised his eyebrows and said naturally, "Are you together?"
Jiang Cheng nodded, "That's right."
Su Xiaoxiao and Chen Ran both focused their attention on Jiang Cheng's face, clearly curious about him.
At this point, although the Fatty hadn't done anything remarkable, he didn't seem like someone with intellectual disabilities.
Could it be that his condition is intermittent?
Liang Long, who had pulled away, was observing the Fatty from head to toe, as if inspecting some strange species.
However, her attention was quickly diverted to Jiang Cheng. Not just her, everyone else was staring at him with a rather strange look.
Jiang Cheng's self-introduction had opened their eyes.
High-end, lead performer, night events, tips, private rooms... especially the combination of artistic and physical skills, as well as things that were only allowed to be broadcast with censorship, were all proudly stated by Jiang Cheng.
With Jiang Cheng stirring things up, the fear of the mission that had been in the air before seemed to dissipate significantly.
After calming down, everyone was now both hungry and tired.
They had been in this world for most of the day, and they hadn't had a meal, not even a sip of water.
"Let's rest early," Chen Ran said, "I'll take the first shift, and then..."
"Add one more person," Jiang Cheng said eagerly, "Double shifts. The situation here is too complicated. We don't want to lose someone again by tomorrow morning."
Even now, no one knew where the motorcycle girl had gone or what had happened to her, but the likelihood was grim.
Chen Ran thought for a moment, then nodded. He scanned the group and finally stopped his gaze on Jiang Cheng, smiling and saying, "Then I'll trouble Brother Hao to join me for the first shift."
Unexpectedly, Jiang Cheng responded, "I won't take the first shift," he said. "I'm different from you guys. I entered the mission when I was working. Now, my physical strength is severely depleted, and I need rest."
Chen Ran's pupils contracted slightly. After a few seconds, he shifted his gaze to the Fatty.
Before he could speak, Jiang Cheng yelled, "This chubby guy isn't reliable."
Similarly, Liang Long also rejected Chen Ran's request to team up, citing the same excuse: tired.
Now only Su Xiaoxiao, who had remained silent, and her obedient brother Su An were left.
It was clear that Chen Ran wasn't keen on teaming up with these two, and his expression revealed a sense of being forced into the situation.
"Then please take good care of Miss Su," Chen Ran said finally.
The Fatty, who was leaning against the wall, was woken up for the shift change. Jiang Cheng, wrapped in his clothes, comfortably curled up in the corner of the wall. Under the flickering firelight, Jiang Cheng's half-open eyes revealed a special aura.
Liang Long, who was paired with them, sat on the other side, keeping her distance. The earlier behavior of the Fatty and Jiang Cheng had confused her, so she had no intention of further engaging with them.
The Fatty leaned in and whispered to Jiang Cheng, "Is that guy named Chen Ran problematic?"
"Mm."
The Fatty glanced towards Chen Ran's position and found him lying in the shadow where the light didn't reach. He could only make out a rough outline and couldn't tell if he was asleep.
Swallowing, the Fatty withdrew his gaze and continued, "I think everyone doesn't really like him. That Liang Long seems to have heard of him, but I don't know what she heard."
"But I'm sure it wasn't good," the Fatty paused. "Otherwise, it wouldn't be like this. I feel like Liang Long is a bit scared of him."
The Fatty understood the saying "good news never leaves the door, but bad news spreads far and wide," especially in a nightmare world where things could devour you whole.
It was clear that Chen Ran must have done something in the nightmare world that left a deep impression on his teammates who survived with him.
The Fatty lowered his voice further, "I know why you suggested two-person teams. It's to supervise each other and prevent anyone from secretly sabotaging the others."
"And I also understand why you paired Su Xiaoxiao and Chen Ran together, because she's not an ordinary person, right?" The Fatty became more excited, feeling like he was beginning to follow Jiang Cheng's reasoning.
"Just by looking at her, you can tell she's done a lot of hard work, but what's more impressive is that she managed to bring an intellectually disabled person like her brother into a mission and still survive. That's..."
"So what?" Jiang Cheng sneered, "I could take you on a mission too!"
The Fatty: "Doctor, saying things like that makes it easy to lose friends."
"Those things you mentioned are only part of the reason," Jiang Cheng sat up seriously, draping his clothes over his back. "The main reason has to do with this place itself."
"Doctor, what do you mean?"
"Where did that woman disappear from?" Jiang Cheng asked.
"Here."
"Be more specific."
"In this room... no, this lighthouse," the Fatty quickly corrected himself.
Jiang Cheng shook his head. "I don't think so."
"Did you figure something out?" The Fatty swallowed nervously, glancing around to ensure no one was paying attention. He then quietly asked, "Doctor?"
Jiang Cheng leaned against the wall, squinting his eyes as he slowly said, "I'm not sure yet. I'll tell you when I figure it out."
"Okay."
"Fatty."
The Fatty froze. He thought Jiang Cheng had changed his mind and was about to share his thoughts, so he eagerly said, "Doctor, go ahead, I'm listening!"
Jiang Cheng glanced at another corner where a twisted figure was curled up. "Be careful of that old woman."
He paused, and unusually continued, "If we get separated, don't go near her. Don't believe anything she says."
