Farewell

As expected,

This old woman was the hidden threat within the mission. She is an NPC, and due to the constraints of the rules, she can only act when alone with another player.

"Is that so?" Leaning against the wall, Chen Ran smiled weakly.

Jiang Cheng stopped paying attention to him. Compared to Chen Ran's life or death, he clearly cared more about his own and how to survive, especially since it seemed unusually quiet outside.

He wondered if that Fatty had gotten into trouble again.

"Wait, wait, wait..." Chen Ran's voice suddenly came, Jiang Cheng frowned and turned around. Did he have more to say?

Even though Jiang Cheng knew it was a waste of time here, he still stopped, staring at the troublesome man as if waiting for his next words.

"Brother Hao," Chen Ran grinned. "You're just leaving like this?"

"You're not worried that the effect of this thing on me might not be as big, and when I recover, I'll stab that old woman to death?"

With great difficulty, he raised his head. His eyes still held that same unbearable arrogance.

It was as if the roles were reversed, and it was him pushing Jiang Cheng into a corner.

Jiang Cheng stared at him, and after a while, "So what are you saying...?"

"I suggest you don't be merciful. Do things decisively and thoroughly," Chen Ran coughed a few more times. His face was flushed, and his breathing was clearly disturbed.

"You'd better take my dagger, then cut off my arm, and preferably... preferably also cut off my legs," After a few seconds, Chen Ran gasped for breath and chuckled. "If possible, also destroy my eyes and cut out my tongue."

"Turn me into a useless person who can't see, can't fight, and can't escape," he suggested. "Only then will things be safe."

"Do you have a grudge against this body of yours?"

Jiang Cheng narrowed his eyes. Chen Ran's danger level in his mind had increased significantly. There were plenty of lunatics in nightmares, and the rules and insanity here were a playground for them.

But a person like Chen Ran, who was cruel to others and even harsher on himself, Jiang Cheng had never seen before.

He didn't expect this man to not only be ruthless to others but also to himself. Their gazes crossed, and Jiang Cheng didn't see any fear in his eyes.

He was very calm about the upcoming outcome.

In a nightmare, whether one was a good person, a bad person, or a madman, none of these titles had much to do with their survivability. What truly determined if one could survive was an extremely sharp and calm mind.

Of course, a bit of luck was also crucial.

"Just a reminder, if you, or that fatty outside, fall into my hands, do you know what the result will be?" Chen Ran answered. His weak voice began to sound persuasive.

"You have a knife in your hand and a big meal like me is in front of you for you to enjoy, you really don't want to give it a go?"

Chen Ran struggled to raise his head, the madness in his eyes almost becoming tangible. "Opportunities shouldn't be given up on. Believe me," he chuckled lightly. "Especially when it's still in your hands."

Jiang Cheng walked up, the arc of the dagger flashed before his eyes, and the scorching blood splattered on the wall. The next second, Chen Ran's world plunged into darkness.

"Farewell."

Jiang Cheng, who had taken Chen Ran's two daggers from under his coat, slowly stood up and turned to leave.

The old woman's gaze grew increasingly impatient. Her snake-like, long tongue greedily licked the blood on Chen Ran's face. He had gotten his eyes destroyed as he wished, but the smile at the corner of his mouth became even more exaggerated.

At the moment Jiang Cheng flashed out of the door, "Farewell," Chen Ran said one last time.

Jiang Cheng left the room and found the Fatty outside the stone door. At this moment, the Fatty seemed to be terrified, curled up in a corner, trembling uncontrollably.

He tightly covered his mouth, as if afraid that something would hear his voice and come for him.

Seeing the Fatty like this, Jiang Cheng didn't approach immediately. After observing for a while, he slowly walked over. "Fatty," he lowered his voice.

Hearing Jiang Cheng's voice, the Fatty froze for a moment, then seemed to find his savior. "Doctor," he trembled. "Did you know? Just a while ago, as soon as you went in, there was a sound coming from below. It sounded like something was walking on the stairs, coming up!"

Looking in the direction the Fatty pointed, the stairs were pitch black. He couldn't tell what was down there.

What was even more unclear was whether the Fatty's words were real or if they were an illusion caused by Chen Ran's tricks.

Jiang Cheng personally leaned towards the latter.

The mission was already close to the end. If something really was lurking in the darkness, the Fatty would probably have been dead by now.

"Stop thinking about it," Jiang Cheng patted the Fatty's shoulder. "It must be an illusion. Otherwise, with your fat body, those things wouldn't be able to resist."

The Fatty wisely chose to believe the doctor's words. He swallowed and forcibly tore his gaze away from the dark stairs. He had been staring at it for at least ten minutes.

Not daring to breathe.

"Doctor," the Fatty finally snapped out of it, and then saw the injuries on Jiang Cheng's body. Not only was he injured on his body, but his face had also been slashed with a knife, still bleeding.

"You're injured!"

"I'm fine," Jiang Cheng interrupted the Fatty, wiping his face with the back of his hand. "I took care of Chen Ran. Let's go in and check the result."

Upon hearing this, the Fatty's face suddenly lit up, and he excitedly said, "Doctor, did you succeed in the sneak attack?"

Jiang Cheng choked on the words and immediately glared at him in dissatisfaction. "It's not a sneak attack. He couldn't beat me. I'll be honest with you. I even spared him a hand and a leg."

The Fatty didn't care about these details. After all, it wasn't something new for the doctor to bullshit. He swallowed and lowered his voice. "Doctor, you mean, the old woman... is she going to...?"

"Hmm."

"Then what?" the Fatty asked. "What should we do?"

Jiang Cheng took the time to explain his understanding of this dungeon to the Fatty. After hearing this, the Fatty's hair stood on end. He swallowed hard and looked at Jiang Cheng weakly. "Doctor, I can understand that the old woman is an NPC, but... but aren't you giving her too much credit by saying that she's part of the curse?"

"And..." The Fatty looked at him in confusion. "You said the white-dressed woman on the stone plate..."

"Priestess," Jiang Cheng interjected.

"Right, right, the white-dressed priestess, is also the old woman, how is that even possible?" The Fatty looked at him, blinking. "I saw that white-dressed priestess clearly, she was very beautiful, with big..., and didn't look like the old woman at all!"

Having communicated with Chen Ran more, Jiang Cheng felt a bit unaccustomed to switching back to the Fatty. "It has nothing to do with looks," Jiang Cheng shook his head, his tone suddenly becoming serious. "You can understand it as... a kind of inheritance."
