Chapter 029 Please, Can You Take Care Of Me First!

Banner is the Hulk's real name.

Or, more precisely, the Hulk when he's conscious.

Before becoming the Hulk, Banner was just an ordinary but famous physicist. During an experiment, he was accidentally exposed to a large amount of radiation from a gamma bomb he had created, which caused a physical mutation.

And that's how the Hulk was born.

You could say that the radiation gave Banner an extra personality— the Hulk. So, in essence, the soul inside the Hulk is still Banner.

The soul that Luo Bai knocked out with a single palm was Dr. Banner, conscious and awake.

At that moment, Banner's soul was clearly disoriented.

Wait— where did this slap come from?

Did I just… ascend to heaven?

"What's going on?! Can someone explain this to me?" Banner asked, looking at his ethereal form floating in the air.

But he wasn't the only one confused. Everyone except Luo Bai seemed just as bewildered.

They all wanted to ask the same thing: what the hell just happened?

They had seen Luo Bai slap the Hulk, and now Hulk had somehow turned into a soul?!

Everyone was stunned, exchanging confused glances.

After a few moments, Stark was the first to speak.

"Luo Bai... can you explain to me… what's going on?" Stark asked, his face filled with disbelief.

Luo Bai remained calm and replied casually, "It's quite simple—this is magic."

Of course, Stark knew it was magic!

He had seen Luo Bai use magic before, but this was different. Luo Bai had used teleportation spells earlier, and Stark hadn't been able to gauge his combat abilities.

But now, seeing this firsthand, Stark was utterly shocked.

"I mean, sure, I've seen you use magic before. But, you know, I've never really been exposed to magic. Most of what I know comes from TV… I always thought mages did things like fortune-telling and curses, but… you..." Stark trailed off, realizing he sounded incredibly naïve.

Realizing he might be talking too much, Stark changed the subject. "Are all mages as powerful as you? I mean

, is there anyone more powerful than you?"

Luo Bai nodded. "Of course."

Hearing this, Stark fell silent for a moment, clearly deep in thought. After a pause, he sighed, "Honestly, Nick Fury, I think I finally understand you now."

Stark had great faith in Luo Bai's character. After all, they had been through life-and-death situations together, and Stark firmly believed that Luo Bai would always stand on the side of justice.

But Luo Bai wasn't the only mage in the world.

Nick Fury had previously warned about the potential dangers of mages, especially if any had "evil" intentions. Stark hadn't paid much attention to it back then, but after witnessing Luo Bai's abilities, he started to feel uneasy.

Seriously, if all mages are like Luo Bai, how can humans even survive?

Stark voiced his concerns. "Honestly, Luo Bai, if every mage has power like yours, I can't even imagine how dangerous things could get for humanity."

Stark's words carried no ill intent, and Luo Bai understood that.

Humans naturally fear beings that are too powerful, and Luo Bai was fully aware of this. So, he reassured Stark, "Don't worry. Most mages are here to protect Earth and humanity."

Hearing that, Stark exhaled in relief. "That's good to hear."

He couldn't bear to think about what might happen if mages ever became enemies of humanity.

Just as Stark was feeling relieved, Luo Bai added, "But not all mages protect the Earth. There are also evil mages out there."

What the hell?!

"Evil mages?!" Stark blurted out, clearly alarmed.

"Don't worry," Luo Bai said. "As long as the Sorcerer Supreme is around, no evil mage would dare attack Earth without risking their life."

"Wait, the Sorcerer Supreme?" Stark asked, intrigued. "What's that?"

"The Sorcerer Supreme is the most powerful mage on Earth. Other mages refer to them as such," Luo Bai explained.

"So, the Sorcerer Supreme will protect the Earth?" Stark inquired further.

Luo Bai nodded. "Every Sorcerer Supreme has the duty to protect Earth."

"Thank God!" Stark exclaimed, relieved once again. "At least the most powerful mage isn't a villain. That's reassuring."

Nick Fury, who had been quietly listening to their conversation, had been masking his shock, but it was obvious from his expression that he was both astonished and unnerved.

In his mind, Nick Fury was swearing up a storm. What the hell?! Mages?! Magic?! There are actual mages on Earth?

How is this scientific? This is not scientific at all!

Despite his internal panic, Nick Fury maintained a composed exterior. Seeing that Luo Bai and Stark were wrapping up their discussion, he interjected weakly, "Uh, sorry, can I ask a question?"

Luo Bai responded coolly, "Go ahead."

"Are there… a lot of mages on Earth?" Nick Fury asked cautiously.

Luo Bai smiled. "That question suggests you now believe mages exist."

Nick Fury felt a bit embarrassed, having previously expressed skepticism about magic. Now that he was faced with the reality of it, he could only respond awkwardly, "This is unbelievable. It completely overturns everything I thought I knew. I didn't want to believe it, but after what you just did, I don't have a choice."

Luo Bai smiled knowingly. "Nick Fury, you've always believed you could control everything. Do you still think you can control mages?"

Nick Fury went silent. He knew Luo Bai was pointing out the arrogance of his previous assumptions.

As just an ordinary human, with abilities slightly above average, how could he think he could control beings like mages?

Seeing Nick Fury's silence, Stark, with some sympathy, joked, "Honestly, Nick Fury, I admire your bravery. I didn't expect you to try and take on a mage."

"..."

Nick Fury said nothing, silently cursing in his mind. How was I supposed to know Luo Bai was really a mage?!

Though Stark teased Nick Fury, deep down, he wanted to know more about mages.

"I've actually been meaning to ask you about mages for a while now," Stark said. "But you've been away, and I've had my own issues to deal with, so I never got the chance. Since we're on the topic, can you tell me how many mages there are on Earth?"

Luo Bai answered calmly, "Not many. Magic requires talent, and people with high magical potential are rare."

"How many are trained to your level?" Stark asked.

Luo Bai thought for a moment. "Not many. The higher your magical talent, the more you can learn. Luckily for me, I've always had a lot of good fortune, so my talent is quite high. I've progressed much faster than the average person."

"Good fortune?" Stark questioned. "What does luck have to do with magical talent?"

"Of course, it's connected. Someone as talented as I am, with a magical aptitude that only comes around once in a thousand years… how could I not have some luck?" Luo Bai said with a smirk.

Stark frowned. "It feels like you're bragging."

"Not at all. Everything I've said is the truth," Luo Bai replied.

"Alright, so how long have you been studying magic?" Stark asked.

"I'm not sure. Maybe half a month or a month," Luo Bai answered casually.

"Half a month?!" Stark exclaimed.

Since he had no experience with magic, Stark couldn't fully grasp how incredible it was that Luo Bai had reached this level in just half a month.

He furrowed his brow. "You learned all this in just half a month? Is magic really that easy to learn?"

If other mages from Kamar-Taj had heard Stark's words, they would've fallen silent out of sheer disbelief.

But Luo Bai didn't bother explaining, as he didn't think it was necessary.

Just then, a weak voice echoed: "Um, could everyone… please take a moment to look at me? My soul is still wandering outside my body…"
