Someone Within The Family

Nathan staggered slightly as he got to his feet, his eyes half-lidded but clearing up, and I steadied him, keeping my grip firm. His expression was dazed but content, as if some invisible weight had finally lifted.

"Freya, I swear," he murmured, "that was… honestly, that was the greatest relief I've felt in my life. I mean, if more men knew about this place, maybe they'd all pour out their heavy hearts."

His words, innocent as they were, sparked an idea. Lucas. The lawyer. Maybe, just maybe, there was a way to shake his rigid demeanor and get him to reveal something valuable.

I made up my mind on the spot and turned to Madam May. "Actually, May, I could use a small favor. Got a vial of that aphrodisiac you use in the Dark Night rooms?"

Madam May's brows shot up, her mouth twisting in a knowing smirk. "And what would you be wanting that for, little Freya?" Her voice was half-tease, half-warning, but she held back the questions.
