A Week Later.
Aurora sat comfortably on the couch in her bedroom, her legs tucked beneath her as she held her phone in front of her face.
The moment the video call connected, Xander's face appeared on the screen, his sharp features slightly softened by the warm light in his room.
The sight of him made her heart swell with longing.
"You look tired," she noted with a pout.
Xander chuckled, rubbing a hand over his face. "Long day. We're finalizing everything before we move in on the crime location."
Aurora's pout deepened. "So, how much longer before you come home?"
Xander exhaled, leaning back against the chair he was sitting on. "Three weeks, give or take."
Aurora sighed dramatically, her shoulders dropping. "That's still too long."
Xander smirked. "You act like you don't know what my job entails."
