Dinner was uneventful. They ate in silence, barely saying much. They had a small talk about the business but nothing personal.

They were two business associate with no personal connection. They might as well be strangers as they avoided looking at each other.

I can do better than this.

He had decades of practice in talking to people. He had millions of words in his vocabulary. But why could he not find the right thing to say to her?

Even his wolf was restless as the awkwardness in the room increased. But he did not know what to say. He was afraid that he would mess it up again.

He wanted to fix things between them, make up for all the lost time, and amend his mistakes, but all he had ever done was ruin their relationship.
