Crossed Lines

I opened the door, attempting to leave but Bruno grabbed hold of my arm, pulled me inside and closed the door.

As the study door clicked shut with a heavy finality, I turned to face Bruno, a scowl already twisting my face.

My wrist still tingled from where he'd grabbed me in the kitchen.

His intense, dark gaze bored into me as he leaned against the desk, arms crossed, watching me with that cold calculation he always seemed to reserve just for me.

"Do you make a habit of dragging people around like that?" I snapped, folding my arms defensively. "Or is it just me you enjoy treating like some pet you can command at will?"

He raised an eyebrow, looking completely unbothered by my outburst.

"Why don't you understand that If I hadn't stepped in, that little spat with Sofia would've turned into something far uglier. You're poking a hornet's nest, Maria, and you don't even realize it."

I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
