The world around us seemed to fade, dissolving into the edges of my awareness as I locked eyes with Eryx. It was as though I was seeing him for the first time, yet he was achingly familiar. My wolf stirred, a low growl of contentment reverberating in my mind. His piercing gaze took in every detail of me, and I mirrored him, committing every line, every shift of expression to memory.

The others stood in silence at first, the weight of our realisation sinking into the group.

"Mates.." Faidon looked between us, the first to break the quiet.

Kharis grinned wolfishly. Cohnal smiled and his shoulders seemed to relax. Soren dipped his head slightly, his brow furrowed in thought.

"I thought I could smell her scent… Thought she might be mine..." he muttered, almost to himself. Then, louder, he added, "Before her wolf arrived."

Cohnal's frown deepened as he turned toward Soren. "Dark magick?" he asked, suspicion lacing his voice.
