"Do you have any money? If you do, you can head into Notting City and buy a set of bedding, though it might be a bit expensive," Wang Sheng suggested with a shake of his head.

"Money? What's that?" Xiao Wu blinked, utterly confused.

Wang Sheng was stunned, staring at her in disbelief. "Money? Money is copper soul coins! Xiao Wu, don't tell me you don't even know what copper soul coins are?"

Xiao Wu awkwardly chuckled, trying to cover up her embarrassment as she realized everyone was staring at her oddly. "Oh, copper soul coins! Of course, I know what those are!" Her laugh was forced, and anyone could tell she was faking it.

Her attempt to act as if she knew was so unconvincing that Lin Ye immediately saw through her lie.

Wang Sheng sighed heavily. "If you don't have any money, we'll have to lend you a set of bedding for now. Once you earn some money at the academy, you can go to Notting City to buy your own."

As one of the older students in Dorm Seven, Wang Sheng felt a sense of responsibility, but dealing with someone as clueless as Xiao Wu left him feeling exhausted.

"Sister Xiao Wu, you can use mine if you like! I'll share with Xiao Hu for a while."

"Mine too! I can bunk with Xiao Ming."

"Use mine! I'll sleep with Tie Zhu for now!"

The kids of Dorm Seven eagerly offered their bedding to Xiao Wu, raising their hands in excitement, eager to help.

Xiao Wu smiled awkwardly, clearly touched by their kindness, but when her gaze fell on the tattered and patched quilts on the beds—dirty and threadbare—she couldn't bring herself to accept their offers. With a forced smile, she politely declined, "Thank you all, but... no, it's fine."

Her eyes darted around the room, searching for a better solution, and finally landed on Tang San. Lin Ye also had a clean set of bedding, but she found his demeanor a bit cold and distant. As someone who was naturally outgoing and preferred people she could easily get along with, Tang San seemed like the better option.

"Tang San, your bedding looks really big. How about we share it?" Xiao Wu asked, looking at him with wide, hopeful eyes.

"Huh?" Tang San was taken aback, his mouth falling open in surprise before hesitating. "But... isn't it inappropriate for boys and girls to sleep together?"

"What are you afraid of? I'm a girl, and I'm not scared! We can just push our beds together and put something in the middle to separate us. Your bedding looks big enough for both of us," Xiao Wu argued, a little impatiently.

Tang San scratched his head, still unsure. "It doesn't seem proper..."

Just as Tang San was struggling to decide, Lin Ye stepped forward and handed his own bedding to Xiao Wu without a second thought.

"Here, take mine," Lin Ye said calmly.

"Huh? What about you? Don't you need bedding?" Xiao Wu asked in surprise, instinctively accepting the bedding.

"I'll go into Notting City later this afternoon and buy another set," Lin Ye replied nonchalantly.

In truth, Lin Ye hadn't wanted to accept the bedding that the Master had given him in the first place. He had accepted the Master's notes because he still lacked knowledge about the soul master world, but bedding was something he could easily buy for himself. Now, giving the bedding to Xiao Wu was a way to repay some of the Master's kindness without feeling indebted.

"Thank you so much, Lin Ye!" Xiao Wu beamed, holding the clean, fresh-smelling bedding in her hands, her face lighting up with happiness.

"Tang San, this bedding was sent by the Master. Do you know him?" Wang Sheng asked hesitantly, recalling what Teacher Mo had said earlier.

"Of course I do. The Master is my teacher," Tang San replied with a soft smile.

"Teacher? Tang San, the Master isn't one of the academy's instructors. Do you know what it means to call someone 'teacher'? It's not a title to be used lightly," Wang Sheng said, surprised by Tang San's response.

"Don't worry, Tang San knows what he's doing," Lin Ye interjected before Tang San could respond. "He's already formally apprenticed under the Master, so calling him 'teacher' is appropriate."

"What? Tang San apprenticed under the Master? But... I heard that the Master's strength is really low. Are you sure about becoming his disciple?" Wang Sheng exclaimed, his face full of disbelief.

Just as Wang Sheng was about to continue, Tang San cut him off sharply. "I know everything you're going to say. I'm fully aware that the Master isn't strong, but his knowledge of martial souls is unparalleled. I trust him, and I know he'll help me. Wang Sheng, I appreciate your concern, but I won't allow anyone to insult my teacher. If it happens again, I won't hesitate to act."

The warning in Tang San's eyes was unmistakable.

Wang Sheng quickly backed down, offering an awkward smile. "There won't be a next time..."

Sensing the tense atmosphere, one of the other kids in Dorm Seven quickly spoke up, "It's getting late. Shouldn't we head to the cafeteria for dinner?"

"Yeah, yeah! It's almost time to eat!" The others chimed in, glancing out the window at the fading daylight.

"Lin Ye, since it's getting late, how about we eat first and you can go to Notting City afterward to buy your bedding? After all, classes haven't started yet, so there's no rush," one of the boys suggested.

"Alright," Lin Ye agreed with a nod.

"We're going to eat? Yay! Let's go!" Xiao Wu exclaimed, her excitement bubbling over as she jumped up and down.

"Xiao Wu, do you have any money?" Wang Sheng asked, raising an eyebrow at her enthusiasm.

"Money? You need money to eat?" Xiao Wu froze, her expression going blank as she blinked in confusion.

Lin Ye: "..."

Tang San: "..."

Wang Sheng: "..."

"...So my question earlier was a complete waste of time!" Wang Sheng groaned, shaking his head.

"Alright, I'll cover her meals for the next few days," Lin Ye said finally.

Over the past three months, Lin Ye had made a considerable sum by hunting and selling the pelts of fierce beasts and wild animals, along with items like bear paws, tiger bones, and even some valuable herbs he'd stumbled upon. While it wasn't a fortune, he had managed to save up more than a dozen gold soul coins. He had left some of the money with his grandfather, Old Jack, insisting that he keep a portion, while Lin Ye carried ten gold soul coins with him, as well as some silver and copper coins.

In Notting Academy, that made Lin Ye something of a small fortune.

"You're too kind, Lin Ye!" Xiao Wu's face lit up, genuinely touched by his generosity.

Lin Ye merely smiled. After all, it was just the academy's cafeteria—how much could it really cost? He considered it a small price to pay in exchange for Xiao Wu eventually taking over the position of Dorm Seven's boss.
