A block of ice seeing Spring

She could hear Yu Baoyin mumbling, "Sis… Sis… Sorry."

The pain in her clouded eyes was evident to Nanzhi. Even in her unconscious state, Yu Baoyin struggled, unwilling to hurt Nanzhi.

Yu Baoyin collapsed onto the bed afterward.

That short exchange made Nanzhi stand up abruptly. She grabbed a backpack, wrapped Baoyin in a blanket, and hurried to carry her out.

What she hadn't expected was that when she opened the door, she saw others carrying their unconscious relatives as well. Among them was Lin Yicheng.

Nanzhi swallowed a nervous lump in her throat. The little boy's face was flushed red, his breaths shallow and weak. His hands clutched at the rough blanket as though seeking comfort.

The black veins on his arms and cheeks were unmistakable.

He struggled against the soldiers and her grandfather's hands like a wounded puppy, whimpering in his sleep.

Sweetie.
