Lan Fuyou jolted in his seat, his head slamming against the car roof with a dull thud. "Argh! Can't you drive gentler?!" he shouted, rubbing the sore spot in frustration.
"Emperor! Behind us!" The driver's voice trembled as he caught sight of something in the side mirrors.
Lu Jian and Lan Fuyou instinctively turned at the driver's warning.
Through the back window and side mirrors, a terrifying sight unfolded—a horde of massive, mutated water buffaloes charged down the road behind them.
Each one stood at least three meters tall, their bodies grotesquely swollen with thick, jagged, bone-like armor. Spiked protrusions jutted from their backs like barricades, their once dull brown hides now blackened with eerie red veins. Their eyes burned with a menacing glow, as they galloped forward. Their thunderous hooves shattered the asphalt beneath them.
Any one of these beasts could crush their vehicles in an instant!
