Kill the Demon Species!

"Hopefully, I can find something worthwhile." Riku placed his hand on the bronze treasure chest, anticipation swirling within him. In an instant, the chest creaked open, releasing a warm, bronze glow that filled the air.

Ding!

[Congratulations to the host for opening the bronze treasure chest and obtaining the primary genetic enhancement.]

[Ding! Found that the primary genetic enhancement is worth 500 exchange points. Would you like to recycle it?]

Riku's eyes widened with relief and excitement. "A primary genetic enhancement? Not bad at all," he mused. "No recycling necessary." Only a fool would discard such a valuable item.

Following the instructions, Riku swiftly inserted the sharp syringe into his arm, the needle piercing his skin with a sharp sting. He gritted his teeth against the overwhelming pain, focusing on the purpose of his actions. As the genetic liquid flowed into his bloodstream, he could feel the effects surging through him. Despite the agony, he remained silent, determined not to show weakness.

Once he pulled the syringe out, his face flushed with color. The liquid spread rapidly throughout his body, igniting a firestorm of sensations that felt both invigorating and torturous. Riku gripped the rocky surface beside him, his knuckles whitening under the strain. After what felt like an eternity, the intense pain finally began to fade.

With a sudden rush of energy, Riku flexed his hand, his fingers crushing the rock in his grip into dust. "Incredible," he thought, marveling at his newfound strength. Yet, as empowering as it was, he reminded himself that this level of power, while significant on Earth, was still woefully inadequate in this chaotic world. Any demon or monster would still have little trouble overpowering him.

Combat prowess was secondary for Riku at this stage. His primary focus was on his enhanced physical capabilities, allowing him to wield his abilities with greater precision and control. That was enough for now.

Suddenly, a chilling roar echoed from below, jolting Riku from his thoughts. He peered down the hillside, his eyes narrowing. A massive green-skinned ogre stood there, towering at four meters tall, its muscles rippling and sharp teeth bared in a menacing snarl. It stomped toward the horse Riku had tethered, its presence instilling fear in the creature, which whinnied nervously.

"I can't lose my mount," Riku thought, urgency flooding his mind. The ogre, while among the weakest of demon species, was still far beyond his current capabilities. He knew he had to act quickly. Losing his horse would mean exhausting himself on foot, which he couldn't afford.

"I hope there aren't any other demons lurking around," he muttered, steeling himself. With a determined glint in his golden eyes, Riku spotted a round boulder nearby and swiftly rolled it down the steep incline, using all his strength to ensure it would hit the monster.

With a thunderous boom, the boulder careened down the hill, picking up momentum. It collided with the ogre's head, the impact sending the creature crashing to the ground in a gruesome display. Blue blood splattered across the ground, and the ogre lay motionless, its reign of terror abruptly ended.

"Thank goodness that worked," Riku breathed a sigh of relief. Though he had calculated the scenario in his mind, he understood that unexpected outcomes were always a possibility. Fortunately, luck was on his side this time. Had things gone awry, he would have been forced to confront the ogre directly, a gamble he wasn't ready to take.

Approaching the now-dead ogre cautiously, Riku calmed his horse, gently stroking its mane to soothe its frayed nerves. The sight of the lifeless demon sent a shiver down his spine, but he knew he had to take advantage of the situation.

[Ding!]

[Demon body found. You can recycle it for 100 exchange points.]

A smile crept across Riku's face at the notification. Everything could be recycled—swords, clothing, and now the body of this demon. "Recycle," he said firmly, and in an instant, the ogre's body vanished as if it had never existed. Only the bloodstains on the ground remained as evidence of the violent encounter.

"It's time to move," he declared, glancing at the remnants of the battle before mounting his horse. His destination lay ahead—the wreckage of a Dwarf warship and the nearest silver treasure chest.

As he rode away, the sounds of demons returning to the scene echoed behind him. They had arrived too late, their low intelligence clearly unable to comprehend the fate of their fallen comrade.

The week that followed brought Riku two more bronze treasure chests, each day filled with the thrill of discovery. However, one of the items inside left him utterly speechless.

When he opened the first chest, he found a box of high-class chewing gum. He stared at it in disbelief. "Seriously?" he muttered, shaking his head in amusement.

The second chest, however, contained something far more useful: the Orga Lux armed equipment known as "Hermes Flying Shoes" from "Gakusen Toshi Asterisk." These remarkable shoes promised to significantly enhance his movement speed and allow him to walk through the air.

However, he noted with a hint of disappointment that they relied on a unique energy system, requiring physical strength to use effectively. "Well, at least it's an upgrade," he reasoned, satisfied with his find. After all, speed could mean the difference between life and death, especially in this unforgiving world.

As he strapped on the shoes, he felt a surge of potential. The Orga Lux weapons were known for their sentience, demanding a price from their users. But in this case, the system had ensured that no disobedience would hinder his progress. "I don't need any unruly companions," he thought, a sense of satisfaction washing over him. Disobedient weapons were nothing but a liability in his eyes.

With renewed determination, Riku set his sights on the horizon, ready to uncover more treasures and strengthen himself further in this chaotic world. Each step forward brought new challenges, but with his growing strength and newfound tools, he felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Riku tightened his grip on the reins, feeling the heartbeat of his mount beneath him. The journey ahead was uncertain, but he was no longer the same person who had stepped into this world. With every encounter, he was evolving—growing stronger, smarter, and more resilient. As he rode toward his next destination, he couldn't help but smile. He was ready for anything.
