The Seed of doubt

ANNA'S VIEW

I felt relieved when I saw Colonel James walk through that café door. I was on edge. I had a strange intuition that everything was going to go well. Colonel James looked like he was in a good mood. He was jolly when he greeted me warmly. "Did you get some rest last night? I am sure you are sleeping with one eye open and all."

"Yes, I rarely sleep properly these days," I revealed. "I am always petrified that Drake or Drenmore might come after me."

"I am sorry. You know if you want me to place any security at your motel room, I will be happy to do it," he offered. His eyes fell on me, and I felt a little awkward.
