I am brought out of the blissful sleep in a jolt as I feel the ship beneath me begin to move. We turn quickly making me fall of the bunk bed I was previously sleeping. I react quickly and raise my hand sticking to the roof of the ship. I look down at Sabine to see her wide awake and just staring at my while trying her very best to stop the laughter that is held behind her hand.
"What's so funny mando?" I mock as I release my spider grip on the roof and fall to the floor in front of her.
"Nothing, nothing absolutely nothing." Her words are stuttered out as she continues to try and contain her laughter. I just shake my head and open the top draw holding my shoes and grab them. I smirk down at the mando who is sprawled out of her bed as I sit on it which squishes her up against the wall.
"Oi what was that for?" She squeals as I lean back and use her body like a cushion.
"Next time maybe don't laugh." is all I say in answer as I lean forward and begin to strap my boots on. Sabine just stares at me watching as I strap into the boots with a look that says she is curious about something.
"I have been wondering since last night. How are you able to stick to the roof of the ship with just the palm of your hand?" Her question is filled with curiosity as she looks up at me and notices the change in my demeaner as I flinch for a second. "Sorry if it is a difficult topic but I just can't figure it out how you do it." I simply sigh as she continues her questioning knowing full well, I will have to explain this eventually to the entire crew.
"I am not entirely sure maybe it is my species, but I am not fully sure." I use the fact that I am adopted and not biologically Ezra's sister to hide the fact that I know full well where these powers come from. But this only makes Sabine look at me with more questions in her eyes making me sigh again as I lean back onto her stomach. "While me and Ezra consider each other siblings we are not biologically siblings. I was adopted by his parents before he was born, and we grew up together and survived together. But I have no idea who my birth parents are or even if they were both human or even if they were human at all." Sabine's eyes go wide at my words as she realizes how little I truly know about my birth family and how sad that is.
"I am sorry for asking." Her words are filled with nothing but sorrow as she lowers her eyes away from mine in regret for asking such an insensitive question. I simply sigh.
"It is fine I have had worse throughout my life so don't worry." My words only seem to bring her mood down further and further.
"Still, it was wrong of me, we all have our own pasts and secrets, and we should respect that about each other." Her words hit a soft spot in me as I realize just how much she cares which makes me smile softly.
"If you are really sorry, why don't you help me with my new armor as an apology." Her gaze shifts back towards me at my words as she sighs but nods none the less and gets up with me as we walk toward the door. As we step out, we are immediately greeted by the sight of both Zeb and Ezra fighting in the living area while chopper is cheering from the side, and Kannan is trying to stop them to no avail. I simply sigh in response as I walk forward and grab them both by the backs of their clothes and rip them away from each other and hold them away from each other. Everyone looks at me shocked as I show just how strong I am as even when Zeb uses his full strength, he is unable to even move an inch.
"Are you two done?" I say with a dangerous tone on my voice as I look between them as they nod up and down quickly. "Good" I say as I release them and turn toward Kannan who just looks at me with a raised eyebrow but then nods as his way of saying thanks. I walk into the kitchen with Sabine as we both grab some food and sit down to eat it. I watch closely as both Zeb and Ezra follow us in and grab some while sitting on the other side of the table as we all eat while discussing our lives and what they were like before we joined the crew. Most of us opened up about a lot of our lives before but each still left parts out either because they were too painful or because they were just memories we didn't want to relieve. Once the meal was over both me and Sabine head to the cargo bay, but I stop halfway down the ladder as I look to see that we are in orbit above Lothal making me shocked as I look out into the expanse of space and see the planet beneath us. Sabine stands a little behind me allowing me to take in this view for the first time in my life.
"It is beautiful, isn't it?" Her question stops me for a moment as I turn back to her and simply nod as we continue our way down to the cargo hold where my crate of beskar armor sits in the corner mag locked to the floor to make sure it does not move an inch as we move through a planet's atmosphere or through space. I move it our into the middle and remove the lid as both me and Sabine look into the box to see all the pieces of armor are still there and in the correct places as we sigh in relief that nothing happened even though nothing could have happened during the night.
"So how should we start? By taking it all out and organizing it a bit?" I stay in position my eyes locked on the armor as I question the short Mandalorian next to me who simply looks over before answering my question.
"Seems like a good idea. That way we can see just what the empire has done and how much of this armor is authentic and how much of it is nothing but a poor imitation of the real thing." I just laugh softly at her words as we both begin to take pieces out and lay them on the floor to see if every piece was in the crate or if there was a piece that was missing. We spent nearly an hour going over each piece with Sabine testing the purity and reliability of both the beskar and the electronics in the armor and guns. As we worked, we talked and got closer and closer to each other. Eventually Hera comes down the ladder to find us working with an entire Mandalorian armor set with weapons included splayed out on the floor of the cargo bay.
"Well, quite the haul you stole from the empire Alex well done but are you ready for the first mission?" Her question shocks me for a second as I hadn't realized how quickly we would be getting missions. I look toward Sabine who nods indicating that the armor and weapons are in working order to be used in battle. I smile before turning my head back to Hera and nod.
"Yes, I am so what is the first mission" I ask my curiosity bubbling as I wonder what could be instore.
