chapter 7

Game Night

Friday night arrived, and the football game against Caleb High School was about to kick off.

"My little girl's all grown up now," Dad said, beaming.

"Daaaaaaaaad!" I rolled my eyes.

"Well, all the best, dear," Dad said.

"Thanks, Dad. Will you come?" I asked.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world," he replied.

I gazed at my uniform, proudly wearing the number 7. "Caleb, here we come!"

At school, the stadium was packed. Emily grinned. "Hey, Amy! Ready for the game?"

"You bet I am!" we chimed in unison.

The game began, and Frank passed the ball to me. A Caleb player sneered, "As if a girl can dribble me."

"Watch me prove you wrong!" I retorted, dribbling past him and scoring.

"Goal! Go Elephant!" the crowd erupted.

Coach Jefferson praised, "Great job, Amy!"

The game intensified. Alex passed to Liam, but he slipped, and Caleb gained possession.

"Seriously, Liam?" Alex asked, frustrated.

"Sorry, I slipped," Liam replied.

Alex refused to pass to Liam again, trying to score solo but failing.

"What the hell, man? I was wide open!" Liam exclaimed.

"Or you'd slip again," Alex snapped, walking off.

The referee intervened. "Take a five-minute break."

Emily worried, "If Alex won't team with us, Caleb will win."

I reassured, "We won't let that happen."

The cheerleaders, led by Chloe, lifted spirits with their chant.

However, Isaac and Daniel's conflicting beats clashed, causing chaos.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Isaac and Daniel couldn't agree on a beat," Emily explained.

The argument escalated until Ms. Elizabeth intervened.

Just then, Chloe attempted a backflip but fell.

"Chloe, are you okay?" Zoe asked.

"I think I broke my ankle," Chloe replied, wincing.

The medics arrived, and Chloe was taken to the hospital.

Isaac and Daniel continued arguing until Ms. Elizabeth stepped in.

The game ended with Caleb's victory.

Monday morning, the team's morale was low.

Alex announced, "I'm transferring to Sattorn High."

Liam protested, "We need you as midfielder."

Alex smirked. "Not my problem anymore. Bye, losers."

The team struggled to cope with the loss and Alex's departure.
