They embraced without speaking.

Even when Matthew ended up in her room, Serena said nothing.

Having done enough fooling around during the day, she crawled quietly to one side and fell asleep.

Scarlett, though still emaciated, had some blood on her face when she saw her coming.

She was too weak to walk properly, and Daniel got her a wheelchair, which Scarlett wheeled around outside in the sun every day by herself.
