Scarlett rubbed her brow, "Lucien has a wild temper and I don't know where he escaped from to play Sir."
Serena's eyes twinkled as she opened the box of breakfast, "And you don't know where he came out from? He gives me a familiar feeling."
Scarlett's fingers lengthened and there was silence for a few seconds before she spoke, "It's his first time in Hustleburg, how could he be familiar to you, you're overthinking it."
Scarlett was Serena's best friend, and even with everything that had happened in between, she was still her best friend.
So she didn't have the slightest doubt about the truth in the other woman's words.
Serena saw her sitting in front of the makeup mirror, thickening her eyebrows, drawing another tear mole at the corner of her eye, and wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses.
This look was so different from before that she did almost not recognize the other woman at first glance yesterday.
