"What if I say no?"
Serena's voice was light and a little cold, like it contained ice slivers.
Matthew's grip on her tightened, leaving a kiss on the top of her hair, "I'll think of something."
Serena pushed him away and tried to get out of bed when her wrist was grabbed by his, "Go where?"
It was obvious he was so close to her, but it was like he was drenched in darkness, and Serena felt like she was about to be consumed by that darkness as well.
"I'm going out to get some air."
"I'll stay with you."
His words were gentle, but she shivered inexplicably.
She could never believe that the man in front of her could be Maxwell.
Was God playing a joke on her?
She took a few steps and then suddenly stopped again, looking at him who was following at the same pace, "When did you notice?"
Matthew stepped closer and pinned her hair behind her ear, one strand didn't seem to be very obedient and tenderly wrapped around his fingertips a few times.
