The Curse II

"This place," Roman began, his voice low and grim, "It's just like I remember... except worse."

"That means we're on the right path," Leon replied, summoning a faint barrier of golden energy around the group to shield them from the dungeon's creeping malevolence.

"So where is she?" Roselia asked.

Roman shook his head. "I... I don't know," he admitted.

Leon raised an eyebrow, astonished. "Don't you always clear this dungeon? How can you not know?"

Roman sighed deeply, his shoulders slumping. "I only ever destroyed it from the outside. I was too much of a coward to see the state my lady was in."

Leon and Roselia exchanged glances, both understanding more about Roman's perspective.

'No wonder he still regards her as a pure soul,' Leon thought, his expression turning grim.

'He doesn't even know what a banshee truly is,' Roselia mused, shaking her head slightly.

They both sighed quietly but didn't press Roman further.
