Prologue
"Jinman, you're unbelievable," I whispered, my voice tinged with laughter, as I stumbled through the dark hallways of the school. The sound of his footsteps ahead of me echoed faintly, a teasing reminder that he was just a few steps out of my reach.
"And you love it," he shot back, glancing over his shoulder with that cocky grin I both hated and adored.
"I didn't agree to sneaking out of prom just to end up at the pool," I countered, though my heart was already pounding with excitement.
He stopped abruptly, spinning around to face me. His tie hung loose around his neck, and his suit jacket was slung over his shoulder. His dark eyes, always so full of mischief, now held something else- something deeper, hungrier.
"Eva," he said, his voice softer now, "trust me."
And I did. God, I always did.
