I will work for you

Mary initially wanted to buy more time for her grandson unfortunately, she had heard what happened between him and Flora the previous night. She understood her grandson's thoughts very well but she had no other choice. This Flora girl together with her parents were not easy people to deal with. She hoped that Liam will come up with a better plan to get rid of them.

Liam, hearing his grandmother's question tightened his hold on his cup. Flora was forcing him and her mother's arrival was no coincidence. He had to make sure that he got his hands on what Black has otherwise he might be forced to take extreme measures against this family.

"After next week," he said casually as if he was okay with the so called engagement. If he wanted to succeed in his plan, then he had to make the Edwards lower their guards against him.

After breakfast, Flora's mother left and Flora saw her out. Once they were gone, Mary called Liam to her bedroom. It was located in the second floor, not far from Liam's own.

"Liam, tell grandma, are you okay with the engagement?" Mary noticed that when she made the announcement yesterday, Liam didn't seem happy about it.

"Grandma, I don't want to disappoint you but Flora is not the woman I want to marry," Liam answered taking his grandmother's hands in his.

"Grandma, why don't you give me sometime, I'll definitely bring home your granddaughter-in--law," Liam added hoping that his grandmother will understand. Mary was the one person he respected the most in his family and he didn't want to disappoint her.

Mary, hearing Liam's words sighed. If his grandson was unhappy, then she might have to call off the engagement but how was she, an old lady, supposed to go against her words?

"But why Liam. Flora is a good girl from a good family. She's also very successful. Liam why don't you reconsider? I think she's the perfect match for you," Mary tried to persuade Liam. "I wanted to give you more time but with what has happened between you two, I had to give an explanation to her family."

"Grandma, nothing happened between us last night, I don't know how she ended up in my room but I'm sure nothing happened," Liam didn't remember what happened the previous night and he knew Flora might take advantage of that.

Mary sadly sighed, "you youngsters are all grown up now and no longer listen to me. Okay, you do what you want to, I believe in you."

Flora, who was standing outside Mary's room tightly clenched he fist. Liam, since you want to make things hard on her, then he he shouldn't blame her for being cruel!

Downstairs, a couple walked in with a little boy walking between them. "Where is grandma?" The man asked Linda who was cleaning the dining table.

"Good morning sir, Madam is upstairs with sir Liam," Linda answered.

Hearing Linda's reply, the woman's face darkened. If Liam was here, then did that mean that, her step-son was here as well?

"Liam's here? Then where is Kelly?" The man asked, a hint of anger in his voice.

"Sir Liam didn't come with Kelly," Linda said disappointing the man.

After his talk with his grandmother, Liam bade her goodbye and walked downstairs.

"Hello brother, sister in-law," Liam greeted the couple downstairs.

"Brother in law you are here too, Michael was just asking for Kelly," the lady said hooking her hand around her husband.

"He didn't come with me Michael," Liam said looking at the man.

"You didn't bring him here? Liam for how long do you want to keep my son? Bring him back, I've found a teacher for him," Michael said looking stern.

"Cut the crap Michael, we both know he's not happy with you and your wife," Liam was now getting angry. Kelly was his soft spot and there was no way he was going to hand him to these two.

"Liam, he's my son and you don't have a say in his life. If you still consider me your brother, then give my son back," Michael shouted.

"Okay, that's enough. Since you two know that you're brothers then why don't you solve this problem amicably? Liam, Kelly is our son so it's only normal that you hand him over to us,"Diane, Michael's wife said looking at Liam.

"Shut up! This has nothing to do with you," Liam glared at her. Simply because he respected her didn't mean that he was about to start listening to her.

"You can't talk to my wife like that, Liam," Michael shouted angrily grabbing Liam's shirt.

"Stop!" An old angry voice interrupted the two making Michael let go of Liam.

"You two are not going to fight in my house!" Mary said glaring at the two brothers. "And Michael, I was the one who told Liam to take Kelly away, if you want him back then you will have to ask me," she added angrily.

Liam calmly looked at his brother shaking his head. The brother he knew would never try to hit him. Then turning around, he walked out of the house.

When he arrived at his villa in M City, he found Kelly playing outside.

"Hey," Liam called out at Kelly.

"You are back," Kelly said looking up at his uncle.

"Yeah, I met your father, he said hi," Liam said squatting next to him. Kelly was playing with marbles.

"He wants me back?" Kelly asked not buying Liam's words. He knew his father so well so how would he be pleased with him being away?

"Don't worry about him, uncle will protect you okay?" Liam said softly puc

In the afternoon, he decided to call Valarie.

"Hello Mr Michaelson," Valarie greeted when she picked up.

"Good afternoon to you too miss Richards, did you miss me?" He asked teasingly.

Val on the other end of the call rolled he eyes. She saw him yesterday and yet he was asking if she missed him? "I missed Kelly, how is he?" Val answered smirking. Since he liked playing with her, then why no return the favor?

"You didn't miss me? And yet here I was thinking that I had left an impression," Liam said sounding hurt. "It seems like I have to put in more effort," he added after a short silence.

"Have you made up your mind?" He asked, more serious this time.

"Yes, I'll work for you," Val said in a small voice. Why did that sound awkward?

"If that's the case then I'll pick you up tomorrow morning," Liam said smiling. He felt like a huge load had been lifted off his shoulders. But he couldn't help but sigh regretfully. Usually, people would ask, even beg him to give them a job but the situation seemed to have been reversed this time. He not only persuaded her to work for him but also had to pick her up for work!

The next day, Liam showed up at the Richards' house at exactly 8.30a.m to pick up Valarie.

"Valarie come downstairs," Maggie called after showing Liam to a chair.

Valarie was still in her room trying to pick the best clothes for today. She'd heard that first impression is always the best and thus was trying to look her best. Hearing Maggie's call, she grabbed he bag and phone and headed downstairs.

"Good morning," she greeted Liam extending her hand for a handshake. She was already assuming the post of Liam's employee.

Liam seeing her awkward and stoic stance chuckled. "Although I'm going to be your boss, you don't have to feel restrained. Just be your usual self," he said pulling her to sit beside him on the couch.

Val glared at Liam moving a bit further from him. "My job, my rules," she said gritting her teeth.

Liam was taken aback by her anger. And what did she just say? "I'm the boss here so I make the rules," he said smiling. She was the first employee to ever talk to him like that.

"Let's go," Liam said standing up and extending his hand to Val. Val seeing this immediately stood up and walked ahead, totally ignoring him. Liam just smiled and followed her.

The ride from the Richards' house to Liam's villa took about 20minutes. Valarie was amazed by the size and magnificence of Liam's villa. It was painted white with a beautiful flower garden surrounding it. Liam's chopper was standing about ten metres away. Everything there screamed money.

"Wow," Val gasped. She had to admit, she'd never seen anything like this before. He even owned a chopper! "Just how much money do you have?" She asked her eyes still wandering around the villa. She never thought that such a beautiful place existed in M City.

"Enough to feed us for a lifetime," Liam's teasing voice came behind her.

Then taking her hand, he said, "let's go inside, you have a lot of time to admire it."

Looking at her hand which was being held by Liam, she wondered why he always took every chance he got to get close to her. She tried to take her hand back but he held on tightly and pulled her inside.
