Adaceus, walked through the corridor that led to his room, his steps muffled by the carpet on the ground as he went to go back to his room. A glint shone from the window and hit his eye, and it came from the moons in the sky, shining through the glass windows;, Its horizon, decorated from the countless stars around it-oh, how glad he was that there were still here.
He kept staring at the skyline, taking in the view, and he decided then and there what he's going to do next.
Rest, that was the best thing to do, but he had another thing to do before that.
He opened the door to his room, the sight still the same, with the girls still in the bed sleeping. he glanced around, and locked his eyes on his sword that was laid on the walls. Carefully as to not wake up the girls, he went to it and picked it up. It glistened under the moonlight with a brilliant, gold radiance.
He grabbed a piece of cloth and latched it in his back, before going to the window, opening it ad jumping out.
He moved in flickering speeds up the home of Hainan, propelling himself up on the walls, eventually reaching the roof. He sat down on the very top spire of the roof, and perched himself there, and gazed at the city of Prahu.
The cities outline was bright and lively, the light in each and everyone of those buildings were like like the stars above. The mysterious spires spewed their constant smoke, the castle form still with brilliance that was fit for it, and the flying things, silhouetted in complete black, still in the sky.
These, were all new to him, foreign, and it dawned on him once again how different this world truly was. He breathed the cold air, filling his lungs to the brim as a calm warmth seethed into him, only then could he fully relax. This was the first good thing he felt in a while, the first nice thing he experienced since coming here in this world.
For the first time since being here, a realization came upon him among this peace, the realization, that he was free, and a shaking exhale escaped under the mask, unknown to him how he was capable of that. He was finally, actually free.
Liberated from that dark cell, gone away from the silence that plagued him, and the chains that bound him. A breeze went by him, passing by him like a current on a stream and gently caressing his form. The sound was almost defeaning,
As this realization came upon him, he couldn't help but rub his wrist's, the place where the chains were latched unto for countless millennia, and relief came to him as he sunk deep into the memories of the prison, and he couldn't help but shudder at this fact. The thing that he thought was impossible, unthinkable even, actually, miraculously, happened, and he couldn't help but tremble at the thought. A range of emotions spiraled in him, overwhelming him to the point where he began to shake uncontrollably.
He fought hard to dismiss these thoughts of sadness, trying to fight them back, resulting in a smile, or, at least he felt he was smiling. This wasn't time for this, not now..
A few minutes of gazing, still enjoying the tranquility it brought him, the light suddenly then blitzed to his face, coming into view and blocking him from the city scape he was seeing.
What does it want now, he thought.
A gust of wind suddenly blew over to his side fast and immediate, and that drew his attention. Looking t his side, he was met with a black figure that stood on the tips of her toes on the roof, looking up at him atop the spire. To his surprise, it was the young girl, Rinita, her name was, and she was staring at him with those closed eyes, her eyelashes glistening under the moonlight.
He was calm through this, staring back at her with unmoving posture. She was unexpected, even startling him, but not enough to induce a scared reaction to her.
"May I ask what you are doing here? Sir Adaceus," she asked.
"I needed some air, and a little time alone," he replied.
"I see, but, isn't it awfully cold out here? I think its best if you come back inside now where its warm," and she said that with a more elevated tone than here normal manner of speaking, which Adaceus picked up on and noted that it was odd.
"Alright, I suppose I should land down, I'm sorry for climbing up here without permission," and he proceeded to land down.
"No, it is fine," Rinita said, following Adaceus as he walked on the roof tiles.
"E-excuse.. me," Adaceus heard being said behind him. He turned to see the women still looking at him, but there was something different about her, something had changed. She was usually calm, unmoving and stoic, almost like a statue in the way she posed herself, he was even unsure himself as these small cracks in her behavior were barely visible in her, but as she held her hands together and rubbed them uncomfortably, it was evident something changed. She was tense, restless even, but he didn't know why.
"What is it?" Adaceus said, intrigued.
"W-well, there is something I've been meaning to say," and her expression faltered.
"What would that be."
"Its, an apology."
"Oh? An apology for what?"
"For our first introduction, I may have taken things a bit too far."
Adaceus recalled to their first meeting on the carriage, and remembered the fear he felt, prompting him to tense his face at the thought.
"Yes, I do recall that," he said with a grimace, "Your the one responsible for that pressure I felt?"
"Yes, and I deeply apologize for the transgression, I didn't control my own strength and let it out of hand. Its just that, I was deeply affected by Lord Hainan's injury that I failed to hold back, I fear I may have caused harm," she announced, before bowing her head lightly.
"You don't have to do that Rinita," Adaceus said, "It was just a mistake, pay it no mind, I'm more interested in how you did it, actually. Just, try to to keep it minimum next time, please."
She chuckled for the first time, her lips curving to form a smile, an actual emotion rising from that immovable expression, "Understood, I would be happy to tell you sometime," she replied.
"That'd be good," he said, before finally turning around.
After a couple of steps, he was stopped, as Rinita said something from behind him.
"Thank you, by the way, for saving Lord Hainan," she exclaimed.
Adaceus only nodded, and with cat-like movement he dropped down the roof, where he strode on the smooth wall, and a couple of strides, he reached the window of his room. He peeked out again expecting Rinita to follow, but as strong gust then flew behind him, all worry went away.
Landing on the floor, he first put his sword back to its original space, unlatching it off the cloth before stretching his body, where some parts of his muscle unbuckled. He then glanced at the girls, sleeping peacefully on the bed beside him, taking a moment just to observe. He then went to the seat, located at the foot of the bed, and picked up the grimoire that was in it, taking it out and placing it on the desk to the side, before finally he himself sat down, closing his eyes, and letting the tiredness of the day take him to slumber.
