Chapter 37: The Fall of the Royal Family in Kyoto

Xian Yan was born with a physique gifted to him by the heavens. It was always at his disposal, but he did not have any potential in it yet. The process of trial and time was necessary for Xian Yan to unlock the potential he was born with. In this way, Xian Yan's growth was comprised of small-scale progress-hard-won for a reason.

Xian Zhan's Eternal Sword Body is quite a different story altogether. While Xian Yan had to fight hard in order for his body to be fully utilized, Xian Zhan drew strength from the system. His abilities were external processes - he did not have to go through the process of painful activation that others had to suffer for. This made Xian Zhan have a powerhead start, giving him time and effort that another person would have invested to grow.

As the young warriors of the Xian family gathered, most of them felt spirited with their determination and ambitions. The air was replete with excitement since their elders motivated all of them, bringing a sense of unity and collective aspiration. Xian Yan was inspired by their words; therefore, he clenched his fists and determined to prove himself worthy of this lineage that he was born into.

The clansmen, which includes Xian Yin, scatter to attend to their respective trainings after the emotional gathering of elders. The encouragement given was not a mere lip service call to action. No one can be casual. They all have been hoping that they would possibly have a future promise of being bright, weighed on their minds, and everybody wants to do something for the revival of the Xian family.

This was how the news about the discussions by the elders with the youths reverberated throughout the clan, reaching all ears. A new energy filled the air because at last, things were starting to change for the better. Nobody was willing to be the weak link in a chain of promising hopes that would make the family sink. Their inner cohesion would keep their newly achieved fragile stability alive.

While the Xian family train diligently, another major force is stirring elsewhere in the empire. Away from the harmonious grounds of Xian Family, tremendous things are happening in the capital city of Yunxiao Dynasty: Amidst the horizon of Kyoto, a gigantic-sized tiger had created an overwhelming, devastating aura that shocked citizens living down there.

"The Monster King of the Body integration Realm? Gasped the Yunxiao Dynasty's Emperor, Xia Yangtian, as he lifted his head from the imperial palace. The Emperor was browsing through memorials at his desk when the energy of the giant tiger came to encircle him. Its aura was impossible to ignore and so upon immediately taking off towards the skies, Xia Yangtian's expression turned grave as well, for he had before him an opponent whose strength was unmatched.

Around him swirled a golden dragon, from the Emperor's own draconic energy, that exuded in its flamboyance the majesty of his imperial lineage.

Xia Yangtian quickly identified the tiger as an animal of Feihua Mountains, a terrible creature that roamed vast lifeless wilderness beyond his dynasty. Why must the Monster King come here? We, the Yunxiao Dynasty, hold no grudge against him. How could he have been brought to the capital? the Emperor thought to himself and was somewhat troubled by the appearance of such a mighty figure so close to the heart of his empire.

However, Xia Yangtian didn't attack. Even though he could feel the beast's power, he knew that the target was not the imperial palace itself but a location inside the capital. With this information, the Emperor decided to remain cautious and refrain from fighting. Even if he shouldered all his might, confronting such an incredibly powerful being would be perilous to say the least; after all, he understood enough to know that to annoy such a creature like the tiger would prove disastrous to him.

As Xia Yangtian watched further, his eyes opened wide in amazement. "Wait...there is a rider on that tiger!" he stuttered, his breath catching in his throat. More to his utter dismay the Monster King proved not to be the mastermind of this invasion-it was merely a mount for someone even greater in power. That realization made the Emperor hesitate even more, dreading that to confront such a person could prove disastrous.

The tiger flew over the capital and hovered above the house of the Wang family-one of the influential families in town. Its intimidating aura produced an instant sense of panic. All the members of the Wang family feel crushed by its aura. A sense of terror flashed, and soon the head of the Wang family, Wang Yuan, came out, looking more pale than ever by terror. "Senior! " Wang Yuan cried out, bowing deeply. "May I ask why you have graced our humble Wang family with your presence?"

His voice trembled as he spoke, trying to conceal the sheer panic he felt.

With so many powerful factions in the capital, Wang Yuan couldn't understand why this mysterious figure had come to his door.

His thoughts flew back to what could have made such a terrible visitor come to the face of his family, as if in the state of trying to finally understand what offense the family might have made.

Bai Lie sat atop his tiger, gazing down at the Wangs with a cold and oppressive demeanor. "How dare you?" he asked, his voice ice-carved with disgust and disbelief. "Do you fools think that you are qualified to match wits against my master and the family behind him? Aren't you afraid of eternal damnation, with your souls shattered beyond reincarnation?"

That was when Wang Yuan felt his heart sink as he finally realized; it wasn't the tiger-it was the master of the person riding it. Had the Wang family, in seeking power and dominance, offended someone whom they could not afford? Their prior targeting of weaker families may have well been the culmination of all their actions leading up to this moment of reckoning.

Wang Yuan stuttered, trying to make sense. "We… we haven't attacked anyone in a while, apart from Xian Zhan and the Xian family. But clearly. clearly Xian Zhan couldn't be the ruler of someone like you?" The idea was inconceivable to Wang Yuan. Xian Zhan, talented or not, could never possibly lead the devotion of a Monster King of the Body integration Realm.

But mercy was long past for Bai Lie. With one swish of his wings, golden light broke from the torso of the tiger and rained on the Wang estate. The light was as sharp as a thousand swords, ripping into the members of the Wang family as through paper. Screams filled the air as one by one they plunged into puddles of blood as punctured by those deadly beams.

Wang Yuan, his body covered in wounds, raised his fist to the sky in a last act of defiance. "Even if I am going to die, I at least have to get some answers!" he shouted, his voice echoing out into the silence that followed the massacre. But no one answered. His body crumpled to the ground, his eyes open and wide with disbelief as life left him.

It was over in a blink of an eye, from when once the proud Wang family had nearly been rubbed out. Nobody survived. Bai Lie looked down at the estate stained with blood, his face not showing any emotions. "Though it might not bring forth complete peace, it was the only way to put a stop to the schemes they were concocting," he muttered in a cold, detached tone.

With that, Bai Lie turned to Xian Zhan, sitting serenely on his back. "Shall we leave this place?" Xian Zhan nodded, casting one last look at the ruined Wang family estate. "Yes. The Yunxiao Dynasty is too small for us now. Let's go and find a world worthy of our strength."

With one beat of Bai Lie's wings, the two were lost into the air; they disappeared as speedily as they had emerged in the capital of the Yunxiao Dynasty.

Back in the imperial palace, Xia Yangtian let out a deep sigh of relief. "Seems the Monster King had a fight with the Wang family," he muttered to himself. If the two were to come to blows - and they both looked like they were of that caliber - the whole city would probably be reduced to dust.

The words swept through the city: how the Wang family was humbled. Many said it was heaven's requital, for the cold-blooded behavior of the family over the years. Others simply shrugged, knowing that in a world where power was a never-ending struggle, no one ever really was safe from the hand he brought upon himself. Simultaneously, in a still room, XIan Yue sat cross-legged as the system turned on once again.

A notice flashed in his mind: [The system has successfully signed in. Congratulations, host, on obtaining the Fairy Pool.]

A treasure of opportunity no more than rarely seen, allowing for body cleansings as well as enhancements of the one's aptitude, the Fairy Pool was that gift given by the heavens. It could give ordinary mortals the potential for greatness.

XIan Yue smiled. "Soon, no one in my family will be ordinary anymore."
