CONNOR MANOR.
It was as usual as the Connor family members had their private jewelers and dressmakers tend to their needs, but the sudden call from someone familiar made the head of the family stood up on his chair while furiously clenching his fist.
"What! What do you mean our investment pulled out!? Are you messing with me?!"
Never in his life as the sole investor of stable business would end.
"I'm sorry Mr. Connor, but Yellow St. has a new owner. The sole decision was made by the new owner of the district"
"W-what? New owner? When? Why didn't i get a notice?"
"The owner wouldn't come out of decision if it weren't for your son. As of today, the investment of Connor is no longer valid and money will be deposited fully by the end of the day" after that, the call ended abruptly.
"Master---"
"F*ck! Bring me that g*dd*mn good-for-nothing son of mine!"
The Connor family fell into despair as the news of ther investment reached their ears.
Oblivious to what was happening, Jared was still inside the office of the store.
"again, forgive my colleagues with their shameless act"
Jared waved his hand and shook his head. "No need. Kicking them up is enough, but i hope you filter the employees you want to stand inside to avoid unnecessary acts like today. It's bad for business"
"Thank you, sir. And i also want to ask..." He then turned his head to Olivia and asked, "do you still want to stay? I can transfer you to another branch if you want".
Olivia immediately shook her head and smiled, "i think i will stop. I want to challenge myself in another job, but thank you for your offer"
Alonzo sigh and nod, "i will accept your resignation"
After much talk, Alonzo gave Olivia an advance one month salary for her hard work and she gladly accepted. They both left the mall and went to his bike.
Olivia stopped and bowed her head. "U-uhm...thank you, for standing up for me"
Jared remains quiet while staring at Olivia, not because he was startled or he didn't want to accept her gratitude, but because he forgot the most important part of dragging Olivia out of her job.
'what the heck am i thinking'
"It's fine. How about we eat first. I'm hungry for all that trouble"
Olivia didn't say a thing and went on to what Jared wanted. They rode his bike and went to his favorite restaurant.
"So. What are you going to do now? Your job"
Olivia gently dropped the fork and stared at the food on the table. Honestly, she's hungry, but the thoughts of tiring job hunting, she couldn't help but lose her appetite. If she did not work, where could she get the money for her brother's treatment.
"Well, job hunting again. I can do anything"
Jared clasped his hands and placed it under his chin. "What kind of work are you willing to have?"
"I have had a lot of experience ever since college. I can do anything, but not sell my dignity"
Olivia lifted her head, seeing Jared's face brimming with joy. "W-what?"
'why is he smiling? Is there anything fun in what i said?'
"How about working for me. I'm alone in my house, and since i am busy dealing with matters, i need someone to cook for me or clean my house if necessary"
Olivia frowned, staring at him with doubt. "Work...for you? Are you serious?"
From what she could remember, Jared didn't have anything significant, so why would he need a housekeeper.
She didn't know. She's clueless.
"So? Will you take my offer? You can reject it if you want. I'm just offering a job"
She has doubts and curiosity. "How much?"
She knew him as respectful towards women. He never laid any women if they don't want to, even if he fancied him...not one, never.
But of course, she's not also someone who would easily accept any job to anyone even if she knew them.
"50,000 a month, salary every two weeks. Four days off monthly, bonus---"
"Wait! Wait wait a minute"
She took a deep breath and looked at him in disbelief and doubts. "50,000? Do you have that much money? That's too much for a housekeeper. Did you win a lottery? Inheritance?"
Jared covered his mouth and laughed. "what kind of novels are you reading? I don't buy lotteries and i don't have wealthy family. I just do business...just business" he said and continue laughing in low voice.
"A-ah. I see. You should've told me, but 50,000 is too much...unless you have a massive mansion in the center and living your life swimming in money is the plausible answer to that absurd amount"
He immediately stopped laughing and stared at her with a smile. He shook his head and picked up the utensil. "Think about my offer first. I'm not rushing you. You can turn me down if you don't want the job"
With that said, the rest of the meal fell into silence, not one open their mouth to speak.

OLIVIA
What should i do now?
"Olivia"
I don't have any job. Maybe i should find another job right away.
"Olivia"
I snapped out of reality when i heard a voice from beside me.
"H-huh?"
Right. I forgot that Jared is here.
Speaking of him.
Should i believe that he has the money to hire me? 50,000 is too much for a housekeeper.
"Should i take you home?"
No! Snapped out of it! Jared is not rich. He only has the looks, but...
I need a job right now...should i say yes?
"Olivia? Should i take you home? But i only have a bike"
My eyes shifted to his bike.
Right. If he really has the money, he should be riding an expensive car and not a normal looking bike.
Is he messing with me?
"No. I will take a cab. Thank you for the meal, and thank you for saving me"
Instead of insisting, he just smiled at me and nod.
"Okay. And by the way..."
He wrote a number on a paper and handed it to me.
"Call me if you changed your mind"
He said then rode his bike. Only his back came into view until it dissapear. I held the paper and put it in my bag then hail a cab and went home.
I didn't really think much about his absurd offer. I had a doubt and decided to put the thoughts at the back of my mind.
"For now, let's look for a job"
.
.
.
Though the sun hits in the middle of the sky, the fresh breeze continues to touch his skin. Riding in his bike beside the bridge, Jared couldn't help but shaking his head.
He knew Olivia had a doubt and the possibility of her to not believe him is high.
'but well, if she didn't want to, i had no choice but to hire another person'
With the thoughts running through his head, the gate of the community came into view.
He discarded unnecessary thoughts when his phone rang.
Krriinngg!
"Yes hello?"
"Mr. Hale? The motorbikes you ordered are inside the community, but no one's at home"
"Ah. I'm almost there, please wait for a little while"
"Of course, sir"
He hung up the call and increase the speed. The truck outside the gate came into view and Jared immediately stopped in front of them.
"Hello there. Thank you for delivering my items"
"This is our job after all. It's no problem, sir" the man answered. It was the person who entertain him inside the shop.
The back of the truck pulled down and two the motorbikes were pulled down gently. With the sight of the two collections he has right now truly satisfied him.
"Well then, sir, i hope you have a good day"
The truck soon left, leaving him and the two items he purchased.
Krriinngg!
"Hello?"
"Ey. I called to invite you out tonight. I want you to meet my friends, how about that? Think you could make time for this friend of yours?"
"Sure. Since i don't have anything to do tonight"
"Okay then,7pm. See you tonight"
"Sure"
After arranging his newly purchased vehicles, he took a bath and went out to get his money.
At the Milton Gym.
With the previous day's chaos, the gym continues to abuzz with disbelief and anger. With their position undermined by a newcomer, they stayed firm and waited to see the person who battled Logan.
"A bunch of group sitting in every corner, watching the yesterday's fight. They couldn't believe what they were seeing even after watching for several times already.
"Is this even real? How could Logan lost to some newcomer"
"This is humiliating. I wanted to see who that person was"
Just as everyone busy with their thoughts, Jared arrived with casual attire of beige trouser with his white shoes and white shirt folded up to his elbow.
He waled up to the counter, not minding the eyes watching his every step. He smiled at the woman who seems captivated by his looks...again.
"H-hello, sir. H-how can i help you?"
The woman stutter while looking at Jared who was smiling at her. He was about to speak, but the voice behind interrupted their conversation.
"Jared Hale?"
He turned around to see the man he saw once, along with the group just yesterday. With his calm voice, yet hostile, Jared smiled at him, amused at what he is seeing.
"I guess it's ready?"
The man did not say a word. He just turned his back and walked. Jared shook his head at slightly chuckled. He knew the man is hostile towards him, yet he finds it amusing.
He followed the guy until they made it to their destination.
Inside the room are several muscled men standing against each side of the room. The man sitting against his chair had the look of a predator looking at its prey. His eyes went down to the name on the marble plate placed on the table.
'George Francis'
"Come in"
His cold tone and glaring eyes, clearly an undisguised hostility. It's not just him, but the men around also looked at Jared the same way.
Jared sat down and looked around. He caught the eyes of those around him that never bother hiding their dissapproving sharp gaze.
"Am i going to die here?" He jokingly said and looked at the man in front of him. "I think i'm going to get eaten alive" he added.
"Don't mind them, they are always like that. They don't mean no harm" the man stated cold, but immediately after he sat back and put a smile on his face.
"How about we have some tea and a little bit of a conversation?"
Jared's lips curled up from the corner.
"I'm not here to drink tea and have a conversation with you. Spare me the useless talk and give me my money. I'm busy" he said while smiling.
George clicked his tongue and gesture his men. Two people walked forward and opened the four cases on the table.
"10,000,000, as promised"
He took a quick glance at swiftly shifted his eyes on George who was in grimace. "Good. I thought you wanted to stall me because you don't have the money. Thank goodness you abide by your words" he said and closed the cases and stood up.
"How arrogant. Just because you won the first time doesn't mean you're the best out there. Don't be too arrogant, young man, it will lead you to ruin"
His lips curled in a mischievous smile with his eyebrow lifted from the corner.
"It's not arrogance, it's confidence. And if you feel insecure about your loss..." He placed his phone number on the table. "...feel free to call me"
"I will wait... patiently"
